Help, what are these extra hoses?!

Hi, soooo I've just tried to replace my cam chain tensioner to remove some cam chain noise and I slipped the carbies back on last night and now I have a spare couple of hoses!

Hose 1: it comes off the top "t join" in the middle of the carbies and then seems to go no where. I have a feeling it is jsut a breather, but then shouldn't it have a filter on it? (or plug into the airbox?)

Hose 2: It runs down the right side of the bike next to the battery and is attached to nothing at the bottom. Im assuming it i s a drain for excess liquid?

Thanks in advance

First one is a breather, runs up over the airbox. I can't see what the second one is connected to...can you get a picture of the other end?

Looks like the battery overflow hose.

Battery drain/overflow is on the right side going down the battery box and down to nothing.
Your battery does not have a drain on the right side. also I see your battery appears to be very high.
My guess is it is the wrong battery for a gS500. That's why the battery drain is not connected.

When I replaced my battery last year, I noticed the drain on the old battery was on the left side and the new battery had it on the right. The batteries have the same part number, literally identical except for the drain location.

Confused. Your picture appears to be from the right side of the bike but I see no battery drain on that side of the battery. Since the positive is on the right side, it must be the right side we are seeing. But where is the drain from the battery? I don't see it.

I'm not the OP...I'm just saying it's entirely possible the drain is on the wrong side of the battery.

Oh. Thought you were. I had a blond moment.

My '09 Gs500F has the battery drain on the left of the battery, the drain hose just loops around the battery to the right. No idea if that's the way it came from the factory of if it's a result of the PO, just my 2 cents.

ideally .. whichever side the drain hose is on... it should EXIT the battery area .. so any overflow of acid goes out and down to ground...

steel and acid??  :nono:

Thanks guys, yeah it was the battery drain. For some reason the drain on my battery is on the other side (there was a clear tube attached to it venting to under the bike).

Unfortunately now ive started it up again I've found out that changing my cam chain tensioner hasn't fixed the noise! :(
