Please don't post like that any more.  It hurts my eyes to read.  I came darn close to just backing out and not replying half way through reading your post because it was just hard to read with all your font changes.

The best rout for clip ons on a F bike is '89 stock clipons, you just missed a set Steezin had in the for sale section earlier this week.  Keep your eye out for them, they come up for sale on a regular basis, be ready to pay big $ though.  You can also pull your fork tubes up though the triple trees and use e-bay clip ons, but you'll be significantly changing the geometry of the bike.

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

"F"model needs what we call the European type-1. 89's slap the tank, as do Euro type-2.

I'm using vortex clip-ons.  PO mounted them LLLOOOOWWWW.  I like them, but long rides can become tiring with your weight shifted forward so much.  They slap the tank and even set off the horn if I turn too sharp.  As you can see, mines not an F model, so I have more options for mounting them because of no front fairing.  Here's a pic I took upon purchase.

Check out this thread.

Basically, Take off both the caps on your OEM handle bars that hold them in place by using a 8mm allen wrench. Use a screw driver and a 8mm socket to loosen the left and right hand controls/levers on the bars. I didnt take mine off completely because if you loosen them enough, you can slide them that bar. If your left hand grip wont budge, gently pry a small flat screw driver under it and spray a little WD40 under the grip and work it under it. That will help it slide off.

Take a 10mm socket and take loose the two nuts under the gauges that hold it to the top plate. It is common to have the little wire holder on the bolt holding the cables or wire. You will see what Im talking about. Pull up the gauges and lay them forward out of the way.

The use a 8mm allen to remove the two bolts that were hidden under the bars. You will also need to hold in place the two nuts under the top clamp with a 14mm wrench.

Once you have those off and out, you can pull up and off the top plate. There should be four little rubber pads under the top plate and stuck to the plate under it. Be sure to check on the bottom of the top plate to make sure they are not stuck to it. These help reduce vibration.

Follow the pics in that thread above on how to put washers behind the 89 bar mounts to move them out just enough so they do not hit the tank. Really easy
