Just wondering if anyone in my area (Ajax, Ontario, Canada) would have an OEM clutch lever kicking around they don't need anymore?  The one on the bike now is bent from from previous owner. I'm getting bike ready for my wife and the lever is bent out to far for her to reach comfortably.

Replacement is pretty cheap. Motion Pro makes them for about $9.

Be sure to watch the video before replacing it so you don't damage the clutch safety switch:

Thx, but with shipping it would probably be about the same as local OEM from dealership. I was hoping to pickup something local, but used. Thought maybe someone might have replaced their clutch lever with an aftermarket one and didn't need the OEM anymore.

Yea, I already watched that video, very helpful :)

Can't help you with finding one, but I did want to mention the levers are made out of aluminum and are really easy to bend.

I dropped my bike a few weeks back (actually wasn't careful when I put it on the centrestand and it fell over in the night) and the brake lever got bent way down. It's only one bolt+nut to take off, and it was relatively easy to bend it flat again.

Wouldn't take that long to pop it off, bend it in closer to get it where it feels good for her, and save a few $.

Agreed with "spray".....first try bending it yourself.

The one that's on the bike now is curled out, so wife can't reach it that well.

I was gonna try bending it by heating it a bit and one nice smack, but if I break it I'm SOL and she can't use bike. So would like to have another one on hand before trying this, just in case.

Levers previously bent i simply used a constant slow but firm pressure(no smack)
No heat, but moderate heat can't hurt. With the right tools & technigue the lever should not be scarred(can't guarantee it won't break though)  :dunno_black:

Sorry. The one I got was the normal silver style. Didn't realize you needed black...

partsnmore is kind of a rip off and you don't know what you will actually get.  I would get one from niche supply on ebay.  I will provide link shortly.

Not really - the originals for 89-about 1995 had a shallow slot for the safety switch. If the slot is not deep enough you WILL break the clutch switch on the 1996+ models. If you get one where the slot is shallow, you can deepen it with a drill press or dremel.
(Note the caution about that in my video).

FYI: The newer levers will fit new and old bikes.

The OEM part# 57620-01D00 is the same for this part and your bike. Check the part #s if you'd like. I just looked up your 2004 gs500f and it's the same OEM clutch lever as my 2001 gs500
