Hey everybody, I'm new to the forum, and just wanted to introduce myself!
I'm Kyle, 18, and just bought my first bike (I have no prior riding experience) last week, and obviously it's a GS500e! It's a 1999 with almost 16k miles on it. I put close to 200 miles on it within a few days just cruising around my small town in central MA. I was so pumped to get riding, the day after I bought it I got my permit, registered it, insured it, and all that good stuff... money goes fast! I'm sure I will keep enjoying it; I feel confident on it as a new rider. I am not very experienced with bikes, but I was surprised the "get up and go" it had... I've always read people slamming the 500's and 250's for the lack of power, but hell, I don't know why someone would 'need' more than those... for fun, I could see why, but realistically not so much. I'm not downing bigger bikes in anyway, I cannot wait to get another bike at some point... I'm already addicted! Here are a few pictures! For a little fun... how much would you value this at from the info I have given? (It runs beautiful, according to die-hard bikers I know that have given it a little rip).

I had no idea about the picture problem! I made a photobucket account to compliment this, so hopefully this link work.

Let me know if they don't... my internet is all screwed up so my browsers won't load certain pages for whatever reason... it took me about 20 minutes just to get to this page to post!

Converting that to real distance, its about 35 miles ... so yea ... its strong as horse ... (I'm converting that as well).

Yellow, blue, green, black, yawn ... its all just there so the plastic doesn't look ... well, plasticky.

Cool.

Welcome.

The GS500 was my first bike too, when I was 17. It's a great bike. Glad you're not going to fall into the 500cc inferiority complex. It's a great size for a first bike, second bike, or eighth bike. While the GS500 may not be the absolute best at every single thing, there is pretty much nothing it can't do well. And it's so much fun to ride. I don't have one anymore, but I can see myself getting one again someday.

Btw, I also live in Massachusetts. Nice to see someone local around here.

Greetings Ktman95,
Nice bike. Looks fast.  :thumb:

Not only is the GS500 an outstanding bike, the crew here at GStwins.com is great too.
As a new rider on your first bike, you'll do great here at GStwins.
No short-fused prima donnas or self proclaimed "experts" here. Just a lot of good advice and camaraderie.

Regards,
