Ok, so I received my 93 GS500 a few months ago in exchange for rebuilding a friend of mines 78 gl1000 carbs. My Suzuki was in dire need of minor parts ( fuel line, various washers, cushions, and spacers, petcock etc.) Nothing electrical save the indicator panel and gauges did I mess with. So I slowly pieced it together and finished today to final it had a dead battery :( So I put a trickle charger on it for a couple of hours and then tried to start it, which it turns over beautifully but never started. I started with t
He petcock on prime, then on, then reserve to no avail. Killswitch set to run, clutch pulled in and bike in neutral.  I have no clue what to look for or if I even attempted to start it correctly.  Thoughts, tips, advice? Thanks.

Did you put the choke on?
Make sure the vacuum lines and fuel lines are all connected properly.
Check the spark plugs and make sure you're getting a spark.
Or, perhaps it has extremely tight exhaust valves. That can cause extremely hard starts.

This is just off the top of my head. I'm sure the gurus will be along shortly.

I put the choke on and the only vacuum line I touched was the one from the petcock to the inside of the left carb, maybe I put it on the wrong part? But I was pretty sure I only saw the little smooth metal nipple on the upper inner front.

I was going to check spark but my battery had died by then so ill do that first thing when I get off work

I appreciate the help

But the work isn't done, if I rev it and release, the bike seems to fuel starve and die....thoughts?

Thanks! No cleaning just put it together. What's the best way to clean them or an easy/efficient way.  I need to pull the valve cover and fix an oil leak anyways

Good point. Here's a video of it running and the engine noise I mentioned in another post.

The bike turning off at the end was the result of the fuel issue I'm having

Is it worth tearing into the carbs with that noise? It's not the exhaust  I already tightened the bolts lol

I will check your video.

What camera are you using? If its a more recent phone set it to Macro or close up mode so it will focus on the close pieces.

Otherwise the orings I could see looked good (doesn't mean they are, check them well)

The jets with the little holes.. they say use a guitar string.. I have used a bread tie (metal inside the plastic.. but be very careful not to scratch the brass all up. If you have an air compressor blow them out with that and hold tot he light to make sure you can see through both across the holes and end to end. Make sure they are not clogged with junk.

If you have no air compressor.. buy a can of compressed air or something. Carb cleaner may work but you will have to punch it with the guitar string or similar piece.

Ok, ill do that, these carbs seem really clean to me but its only the second set I've torn apart so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Lol. The camera I'm using is my crappy Kyocera veil cellphone, ill try to use my wife's iPhone tomorrow to get some clearer shots
