This is what it looked like when I got it Saturday. The tank and seat section were just sitting on the bike. Actually took the seat section off when I was hauling it in the back of the truck so it wouldn't blow away. The wiring harness was a mess, no battery, brake parts missing, no air filter, just somebody elses mess that they couldn't finish. I've already straightened out a lot of the wiring. Got the front lights and controls figured out. Taillights figured out. Had to replace quite a few of the connectors to get all the lighting to work correctly. Got the motor to crank tonight, but has no spark. I need to put the exhaust on before I actually try to get it to run. I basically have all the motor parts of the harness to figure out to get it to run. Hopefully won't be to hard, but............
I guess it's a good thing I didn't get this bike to save money. I know I'll put a lot more into it than it's worth, but I didn't buy it for the money. The challenge is worth something.

Price?
300 bucks!
Hoping for a budget build, but I guess we'll see.
I have my Harley that is pretty much in mint condition so I got something to do in the garage. Lol

I know how you feel.  Mine was in similar shape when I picked it up a couple of months ago, and I'm still working out the bugs.  The person I bought it from couldn't ever get it running and neither could hte person before him (both of them owned it for a couple of months each), but I don't know any of the history aside from that.  It's been a great education about the world of bikes though.  The search feature of this site has helped me tremendously.  Everything from bolt sizes/threads for missing fasteners to threads and pictures of other bikes that help me determine what is original and what is not (PO did some alterations).  On a good note, I found out last weekend that I have progressive springs when I was replacing fork seals.  Was a nice surprise.   :)

Welcome to the club. The project bike looks cool... I envy you in a way, my bike is all stock all factory, everything I do to it might screw it up. You get to modify everything to your liking and build your dream bike!  :thumb:

I concider all of my bikes "my dream bikes". I'm not brand bias, I love them both.
My plan at the moment is to get it the way I want it, then tear it completely apart and do the cosmetics, ie-paint, powder, chrome if any. If you saw my Harley, you'd see I'm not really a chrome kinda guy. Time is progress.

Not a bad starting point. You have so many options here, but a bobber GS isn't the worst look huh?
