Hi guys my fork seals are due a change for the MOT so while im at it i was going to use some thicker fork oil

Am i ok to use 20sae fork oil? i know the standard to use is 10sae

Also is there anything else i can do other that use thicker oil? I cant afford to change the springs :D

How much stiffer is it with the thicker oil?

Cheers
Marco

Apart from thicker oil and heavier springs the only other thing I can think of is adjust the length of the preload?
I am sure someone else will chime in shortly :dunno_black:

I'd agree, due to the simple design of these forks. Not a whole lot you can do other than the oil and springs. You could probably make a spacer to compress the springs more, but that would just cause you to bottom out faster.

My suggestion if you wanted to start playing round with oil move up to a 15w oil first.

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Better oil and springs for a quick night/day improvement. Easy to install and great improvement over stock.

You can add race tech gold valve emulators as well, but they require more modification to install(Slack did a great write up on the gold valve install.)

I went with .95 Sonics and Maxima 20wt oil at stock height (about $10 at Cycle Gear). I'm 190lbs and ride a quick pace on tight back roads. That setup works very well for me. Combined with an R6 rear shock the bike handles awesome.
