Don't you guys just LOVE all this rain we've been getting? I sure as hell DON'T!

I have a huge fireworks show planned for tomorrow night. The only problem is that there is a small window starting at 9PM to 12PM where they're saying it might let up. Which in reality is the chance of rain dropping from 80% to 60%. It's still over 24hrs away. Who knows, right?

It needs to not rain. I mean it! There's close to 40 people expected for the show. I hate to have to tell all those people there will be no show.

Very bummed right now.

yamahonkawazuki

LOL same here. have to park the pig. cause 40+ mph on a goped in rain = wet ass. this ( fireworks) going off at an angle?, any chance you can get hands on a tent or three? same 60% chance of rain in east tn as well. and storms, hail etc

Well there's only so much I can do if it's POURING rain. If it's just lightly raining I can waterproof the fireworks. If it's raining and lightning and stuff, it's just not even worth it.

Don't feel bad. It'd been rain here everyday for the last 6 days and is raining all today today.

44!! ... nah i dont like that! ...  :dunno_white:

i think we should all get onto our various countries leaders .. and have a chat ... lot of the countries went to that environment/climate change summit couple years back ... and i remember hearing that they voted to "stop global warming at no more than 2% change"  :icon_eek: :technical: .... with what?!... a wall mounted thermostat?!

... anyway .. 'if they can do that' then they should go further! ... all the worlds governments band together and vote to 'adjust the worlds climate' for a far greater amount of 'early summer days with light breeze' and a temp of around ... hmmmm .. 24C/75F ??!! ... with a refreshing citrus drink stand at all riding stop areas!! .... they could do that right?!?!...

... ooops sorry .. went completely off topic there...

Hope you get your chance to let off the bangers Kij !! ... take an umbrella!! ... fireworks still look pretty .. when refracted through raindrops!!  :thumb:

Wrap fireworks in thin saran wrap. Might keep it dry but thin enough that it will not affect performance.

so will petroleum jelly. theres also making carbide cannons or bombs. ( 2 litre coke bottle, a half dozen calcium/carbide rocks into it, immediately seal/close, it forms acetylene gas. throw on small fire at safe distance of course ;)

Well everything went off without a problem. It drizzled a little bit for about 15 minutes during the show but that was it. We had everything covered up with a tarp. Here's some pics of the aftermath:

The two of us spent the morning cleaning up right before it rained again. After the heavy rain and our clean up job, you can't even tell anything happened. Next year we'll probably rent one of those walk-in dumpsters and just shoot the fireworks from inside it.

Looks like you did alright, and didn't get arrested. http://www.ajc.com/weblogs/political-insider/2013/jul/03/argument-real-and-legal-fireworks-georgia/

When my brother, dad and I decide to do a neighborhood/family fireworks show, we do make a trip across state lines..... :nono:

Psht. We had 3 off-duty police officers watching our show. If you call the cops on somebody for shooting fireworks on the 4th, they take forever to show up and if they do, they will 9 times out of 10 just tell you to quit. They do not enforce in GA. It's understood that so long as you keep it safe, they don't mind.

Well we had a little more space so that wasn't really an issue. As far as guns in the country, that is at least somewhat legal. At least here in GA it is.

Same here in the county. as long as it isnt toward dwellings. ive got 7 acres here in city so its a no no.. on guns and fireworks. going to try out the silent 22 ammo for pest control. not much louder than a bb gun. for yard pests. fireworks are usually laughed at unless neighbours complain. but we all shoot em so hardly anyone complains. besides cops wouldnt know where to grow at lol

Well considering fireworks are legal in TN, it's no big deal. The worst they can do, I think, is tell you to cut it out. I think what it boils down to is being courteous to your neighbors.

pretty much got it. Clinton is not legal. BUT never enforced. courtesy is key here. if no one complains its not enforced. if someone growls so does my former coworkers. having friends and coworkers DOES help. same with gunfire or carrying switchblades. usually get a "dammit aaron" vs a confiscation
