should i get a new pair of forks and handle bar? or should i try to find a shop to straighten it? i don't know...

Get some new forks and a new bar. I'm sure there's a certain northwestern GS500 owner who has a pair of straight forks, and a new set of handlebars can be had for less than 30 bucks on Amazon.

I dont know if anyone else has noticed the fact that you really tweaked the frame?
If it was my bike I would pull all the salvageable stuff off like the engine tank etc and scrap the frame.
Try to pick up a cheap titled bike off CL and swap all the good parts over.
I would not attempt to fix your bike :dunno_black:

I am not interested in anything you have to say
Don't bother talking to me, I will not answer you

Looks to be too much damage(and that's just seen damage).....part it out or keep it for spares & buy another.
Sorry man but it has had a hard impact.........what happened?

I looked after you said it but I can't see where it is tweaked. The second pic might show it but then it might be the single of the pic

I have a set of fork tubes.

Other than that new needs the back of the gauges and a front fender. Bend the bolts back for the bar ends. He scratches the tank and engine sides. No biggie. Hardly worth going out to buy another bike IMO

no i didnt get insurance.. and i am really glad im in one piece....a valuable lesson learnt...

im a newbie and only have the bike for 2 weeks and it has under 6000km.... really heart broken..

need time to recover mentally first... really thank you for you guys here

Have to agree, sorry to say.  You can really see the frame damage in that pic with the gas tank.  And if it's also bent back by the seat it is definitely not salvageable.  I really wouldn't want to risk your safety even if you were able to piece it back together.
I'm glad you were able to come out in one piece though I understand your feelings did not....Good Luck.

If you are going to ride on it to learn, why buy another nice bike. I would use this one to learn on. If the frame is tweaked, OK, learn on it and when you're ready, part it out or sell it and but something else.

Good find for sure.  The biggest difference that I can think of right off is that your 04 has an oil cooler where the 02 did not.  Wouldn't think that would prevent a swap though, but I will defer to those more knowledgeable than me.
As far as piecing your current bike back together, we obviously can't give you a definitive answer on that; take it to a mechanic or motorcycle shop you trust and have them evaluate the bike.  There are some real safety issues with learning on a bike with "bent" anything.  Aside from the alignment issues you would face trying to put new parts on, you also don't know if welds/joints were compromised in such a way that they can't handle the stresses that the motorcycle was designed for from the factory.  I think a reputable shop would be able to answer those safety issues.
The swap may be the safest most cost effective way to minimize your losses at this point.

Please get further opinions but i would say Yes.
There are differences between your F model engine & a Naked engine but the project is still workable.

Glad to hear you are in good shape,   as to the rear section of the frame, its not hard to bend that area. The rest of the frame is hard as hell to tweak even when put through a few high side cartwheels at speed. (yes ive seen the proof of this)   IF the swing arm isnt bent then fresh set of fork tubes and bars will have you riding straight in no time, even with a 2x4 as a seat.   ok, gonna try and list some things you can do if your half way handy with a set of tools.

First off, a katana 600 front end: the whole thing, brakes, lines, master cyl, wheel, rotors, triple tree and bars. you press out the steering stem from the GS tree and press it into the katana tree, from there it damn near falls into place, might need some washers for stem nut. the fork tubes are 41mm vs the GS 37mm, less flex, better ride and some adjustablity not to mention the added second brake caliper.  the front wheel is the same as the GS just diff rotors.

Tail section, you could take the time to pull it back into shape, OR if you notice most  sportbikes today have a tail section that bolts on. its not hard to find a tail section you like and adapt it, to bolt on to the GS and then use that bikes taillight and rear bodywork. fact i think Dgyver and JamesG both TWINS members have done it. Here is a member doing just that http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=50542.0
In the worse case you can find another GS frame with or without title, make sure the tail is straight, cut it off and weld it back on to your bike and put all the stock stuff back the way it was from factory.  the GS frame is tough as hell, it can take alot.  the bike is paid for, motor runs fine, this is your chance to express yourself design wise makeing your GS one of a kind as well as some added performance that will still cost less then getting another bike

Blueknyt thank you for taking the time to reply to my thread.  As for the tail section I'm wondering how can I pull the tail section in shape?

Blueknyt

heh,  to straighten something that is bent, you kinda need to know what the spec's were to begin with....   most to care to try often eyeball how things fit, like un bent seats and fenders and bang and pry, sometimes using abit of heat from a torch to bend things back to were they match up bolt holes.   like custom sheet metal work its very time consuming and only denpends on how anal you are with fitment.   some folks use chains and ancor points in floor and use hydraulic rams/jacks to push or pull frames to messured points of reference.  often expensive.  you might get away with long pry bars/pipes and chaining the bike to a tree while you and your buddy pry and pull to bring the frame back, again its by eyeball as your just looking to match up bolt holes on fenders, seats and body work.    I still recomend cutting off another rear end, even if its from another GS the frame is steal and very easy to weld on or weld tabs onto for a bolt on rear section,.
