Looking for interest in rim lights

Now for some of you, this isnt your thing. Some of you might like it. I run a business doing custom work, modifications, ect. We fabricate and sell a lot of custom rim lights for cars/trucks (see video for example)

Raw Designs sells kits for bikes. I know because I have one on my bike and it has been nothing but big headaches and disappointments. I would not recommend it you any of you. Great customer service but if it doesnt work like it is intended, then it is useless.

The Pros.....
We are working on a kit that is totally different in design so there is no patent infringement, have less moving parts so less chance of something going wrong, not a universal kit, less visual (actually you wont see any of it at all) and hopefully bring the costs down a lot

The Cons....
Hand fabricated, not manufactured. Not universal but rather bike specific.

So to get things started, I want to see about making some kits for the GS5. I know it isnt the most popular bike on the street or market but I could at least use you guys/gals as a testing ground and get feedback from you. I have access to other bikes as there are plenty around here locally so we will be doing kits for others also

I am still sourcing materials and calculating costs but I can promise it will be less than $600+ ;)

So if anyone is interested, please let me know.

Busa/Gixxer custom will be your real customer.  People buy GS500's because they don't have enough money for something else. A few people like them because of their simplicity. Neither spend money on bling bling.

I would use your GS as the test mule to work things out. Suzuki probably uses more similar parts in  more of their bikes than most manufacturers ~ should make it a little easier to adapt.

Hey, if you do manage to sell one for a GS500 it's a bonus  :woohoo:

Whoa whoa! I spend money on bling! Lmao! But I always look for the source... I even have lights on my cowboy boots, lmao

Just be sure you have a disclaimer on the packaging about using these past the threshold of the parking lot...which in most states here in the US is highly illegal and the fines are insane.

ohgood

skip the accent lights, and go for the HEADLIGHT and taillight/blinker market.

no one ever asks about my drz (except other DS owners) until i fitted a led headlight. now every time i stop someone comes up and wants to know how/where/howmuch to get one for their insert-every-bike-type-made-here.

if it's plug n play, it's a winner. good luck.

Red and blue cannot be used on the street. All other colors are game.

With that being said, its up to the buyer to know their local laws as they can vary from city to city and state to state

This is VERY true. around here tho red and blue cannot be visible. but are tolerated. always wondered tho with your setup. im assuming pwoer source is on wheel right. seems as tho it would have to be

I know in NY, you can't be driving down the road with ANY accent lights, no matter what the color. Lighting other than the DOT approved markers and head/tail is considered illegal and will get you a ticket quick.

But..with that said, you are right. It is up to the buyer to follow the laws, since they vary by state, and you are not responsible for it. I think there is a market for sure, especially with the higher end sport bikes, and especially with guys out west that do heavier customizing.

weedahoe

Like other companies, we use carbon brushes to transfer power to the lights so they can rotate with the wheel. The rim itself is ground.

I do manufacture and sell kits for cars/trucks and ship globally. However, I want to get in the 2 wheel market as they are only 2 other companies that I know of and one doesn't offer many options/choices and the other is very costly and problematic based on the reviews I have been reading

Yeah. One company I know sells them for right st $600 for the hardware, remote and a FEW lights.

I'm going to do the same but with a different hardware setup (no patent infringements) and much better pricing.

Right now, I'm looking at just a hardware core kit for around .....

$150 with no lights or controller (you supply your own)
$200 with a controller (you supply lights)
$250 with controller and lights

$400 installed for single colors
$500 installed for multiple (RGB) colors

So I think at that pricing, more people will be attracted.
