Finally have my fly screen back on after one of the brackets self destructed on the last big ride. This time I added a second inner bracket to each side and riveted them together to try to stop a lot of the flexing... bit dodgy but hopefully should work.

Yeah I meant $20 per rim off the bike. So to be correct $40. Even if the front is easy it might have been worht the $20 for the back.

Wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't done it in the garage with such high humidity levels. Wiping sweat out of my eyes every minute or so doesn't do much for the concentration or consistency.

Also, found that most of the shops in my area tend to run $30-35 per axle, off the bike. Add to that the fact that they open after I get to work in the morning and close about the time I leave work and you start to see why I decided to tackle it myself this time.
It seems it has become necessary to qualify my posts:

Yeah I do.

So were you using true tools or improvising? Humidity is always fun thats for sure.

I was going to buy tire spoons, etc but it would ahve costed more for the tools, then I would have had to worry about a balance and or weights, etc Figured its just worth the frustration to birng it into my local shop.

I bought a bead breaker, a couple motion pro tire spoons, and motion pro rim protectors as fillers to get me to free shipping cutoff points a while back. That's usually how I accumulate odds and ends tools/supplies.

I decided to try Dynabeads with this set of tires rather than traditional balancing, so I didn't need to worry about wheel weights and such for balancing. I'll post reviews after I ride on them for a bit.

Fixed the fuel tee leak, put the carbs and pod filters back on and took her out. Much more responsive and more low rpm power.

in an hour or so... going to get a MotoBatt MB10U .... cos i can  :thumb: ... Or not! .. Despite what the website of the local shop says .. He is still there but now mainly a RC car seller  :icon_confused: ... Only has remnants of the bike stock and no motobatts anymore ... Now I gotta find another place

... and a new pair of Phillips Extreme 100+ H4 bulbs... cos i was fiddling with the wires up front... had the other bulb out to 'keep it safe'  :icon_rolleyes: .. and dropped it on re-install  ... so 1 for me and one for my mate with a XVS650 ... his current bulb is standard and clouded .. it would be better to use a friggin candle!!  :icon_eek:

Got my chain adjusted yesterday, then clean with kero and a lube job after a quick wash/polish/wax. Going to be raining again this week for something unusual so no point doing a proper detailed job...

Old Mechanic

Picked up a bulb for the tachometer. Didn't actually install it today, my 1997 Ranger needed a blower motor resistor. I replaced it last October, but that one died. Lifetime warranty, but doing the same job twice gets old quick. Good old made in China parts, maybe if this one gives out I'll get one from Ford, before all the threads are stripped and the harness connections disintegrate.
Bulb in the bike tomorrow AM. That is just about everything I need to do to my 94. After 600 miles she is running great, a quick oil drop and fill helped me get neutral easier. Maybe some synthetic in about 1k miles.

no AGM battery yet  :technical:

i did however get headlight bulb!! this morning...  :D

went to shop ... saw the little phillips counter display with test buttons to see comparable light output...

press #1 ....hmmm normal ... #2... (+60) ooh better ... #3 (+100) .. oooooo i like!! ... #4 (crystal vision 4300k) ...  :icon_eek: :D :D :D :icon_twisted: ..... #5 (ultimate something 5000k) ... nahhh too blue and beginning to lose peripheral brightness...

so got a set of the Crystal vision 4300K ... plus came with 2 park light bulbs of blue colour but they reckon super white! .. and all for only $7 more than the +100 extreme bulbs...

now i gotta wait all day to get home and install

I let her take a nap going 40 mph on the side of the freeway in the bumpy grass after acting like a dual sport for a few seconds. Damage to the bike was not too terrible, other than some minor scratches to my brand new paint job, the only damage was the left bracket for the headlight got pretty dang bent up, and the light popped out a little bit.

When I woke her back up, the clutch lever and left hand controls were pushed all the way down, which was easily twisted back into place. When I got home from work I bent the headlight bracket back into place and reconnected some electrical stuff that rattled loose. Heres the before and after:

Other than that it was a pretty good day, went to the police station and got finger printed for my CPL (CWP) concealed weapons permit. The crash happened after this.

I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.

Been a busy couple of weeks so far.

Couple little things done, dropped a tooth to 15 on the front and popped on an R6 throttle tube.
Changing the tube was worth the 20 minutes and $15 bucks it cost. Easy upgrade and the difference in throttle response is very noticeable.

Today at work....while getting paid which was great (my boss is a great guy) I cut out the old stock exhaust and threw on a Delkevic 225mm stainless steel shorty.

For $200 shipped and duties....thank you canadian government  this was a great investment.

It looks great and the sound is fantastic. It's nice and throaty but not obnoxiously loud. That being said I have the baffle installed, without it, it was very loud with a serious bark.

Here is a quick video of the finished product, the video doesn't do the pipe justice as it was shot with my phone.

Just a note it was a 20 minute install, the mid pipe was a perfect fit and it even has a bracket and bumper welded on for the center stand which is great in my opinion.

For what it's worth I'm happy with the result and would recommend Delkevic.

Apparently the video wouldn't upload to the forum and I will try again tomorrow. Here's some pics of the finished product.

That tachometer bulb can be done fairly quickly.

I figured it was a disconnect the drive cable, two nuts, lift out the gauge, pull the socket, switch bulb and reconnect everything. Didn't do it today. I don't ride at night very much, my 62 year old eyes don't see stuff very well when it's dark.
