Hi all. I picked up my first bike 2 and a half weeks ago and have been working on it every spare minute since. I've stripped and rebuilt the calipers,  forks and carbs; stripped the full bike down to a bare frame and painted everything.

Got it all back together and found this mystery part on the floor at the back of the bike. Its cast iron an looks like its been repaired in the past. Any ideas where it's from?

Stuggled getting pics on. Hopefully these will work...

The thingie is not a GS500 part. No idea what it is.
Nice bike!

Thanks for the speedy reply.

I'm pretty sure it's off the bike as its got a little bit of silver overspray where a previous owner had a go at painting the frame. Unless its some sort of modification someone had added.

Think I've figured it out... The black stuff on the end is a snug fit in the end of the tail pipe, so guessing it was some kind of DIY restrictor kit. Anyone seen anything like this before?

Nice bike! ... :thumb:

That thingie ... Looks like a leg off one of those little grill/oven thingies .... Or ... The arm off a cheap aftermarket vehicle mirror? ...

Anyway ... If it fits snug in the pipe .... It might have been the PO just using it as a critter plug? ...  :dunno_black:

I'd ring them and ask eh! ... Just for curiosity sake  :)
