Parts came in today: Complete 2008 front end (forks & triples) with key,  box-o-parts from Weed, 5 sets fork seals. Forks will be for Husky and probably the rest of the front end. Real clean!

.....and thanks to Bluesmudge for hooking up the sound system in the Cave last weekend.

Wiring tonight. Tomorrow we begin the engine work.

adidasguy

Wiring finished. All works! Shorai battery in and everything checks out. All lights working. Gauge lights LEDs and dual-diode mod made to the gauge indicator harness.
Added a "Back-Off" brake light unit.
BrianRC worked on the motor. Looks pretty good. Opened it up. Head looks nice inside. Opened up clutch side. Removed clutch plates and cleaned them in kerosene then put them back in. Motor ready for oil, valve adjustment and installation.

Update: Carb issues.
Pulled cleanest set of carbs of the shelf. Tested float levels on the bench. Both sides dumped gas out of everywhere. Adjusted. Now no gas. Adjusted. Now one side dumps other side none. Moved parts around. Now a gusher of gas even when it appears floats have to shut off the gas.

I gave up and ordered a carb rebuilt kit.

Pulled another set of carbs off the shelf. Checked float levels. A little high. adjusted. Better. Adjusted again. Looks good! Will blow cleaner through all passages tonight then put them on.

First set will get rebuilt kits because something is just plain wrong with the float needles.

Christmas came early today.

1 more complete 2008 front fork assembly
3 front brake master cylinders
1 MS rebuild kit
3 pressure rear brake switches / banjo bolt
2 fork brake line brackets (thank you fleshpiston  )
1 box-o-bolts from weed (came last Friday) Thank you!

Making a list of parts needed to complete a few bikes.
Seems I can't find any clutch switches (I know I should have a few somewhere). Low on certain sizes of stainless steel screws. Needed more perfect clutch perches (found on flea-ghey). Since Wednesday is Backfire Moto, I'll hit my dealer first and drop off a list of parts. Need a couple rear fenders (did you know NEW is only about $42!?!?!) New looks so much better than used.

....and 2 Roaring Toyz gas caps came in, too.

You keep a better parts stock than Ron Ayers.

Hahaha.... Probably even if they need to order something and have it arrive quickly too.  :tongue2:
I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.

Turns out Seattle is the place to be if you are going to be a GS Twinner. Who knew?

Surprise surprise! Jmill and I stopped at Aurora Suzuki before continuing to Backfire Moto. We saw a yellow/black GS500 in the parking lot. Seems a new employee in the parts department owns it!  :icon_eek:

Ordered a bunch of spare parts for Husky and Frank. Got the GS500 Club discount of 15% and 20% off a set of Pirelli Sport Demons for Husky (mounting and balancing included free).  :woohoo:

 We like supporting our local dealer.  :icon_lol:

Got in 6 pairs of fork bushings.
2 new tank petcocks.
Discussed Husky paint with Wes - the artist.

Saturday is a heavy wrench day to get Frank on the road.

I notice that frank has an oil cooler, is it possible to take it off now that there are no fairings on the bike? Or is there a benefit to leaving it on?
