After working on the bike I locked it up and covered it up.. Later, well just a few minutes ago I had to move it because of the street sweeper coming tomorrow I saw that the wheel wasn't backed against the curb like I left it and the fuel leak that spilled didn't match the position of the bike and last but certainly not least my right front turn signal cover was broken off.. As if I didn't already have enough to replace, yet another thing that I have to buy

 :icon_eek: ... that sucks! ...

least the had the decency to stand it up again?.... or was it try hide the event?  :icon_rolleyes:

newbie1993

Probably trying to hide the event... Thieves are everywhere in this neighborhood.. Luckily the steering lock was on and I bought a uncuttable chain and threaded it through the back wheel, brake rotor and a swing arm or it would probably be gone

Janx101

got insurance for theft then?

just chaining what you have is better than nothin... but serious bike pinchers will lift it anyway ... no way to chain it to anything?

Gorilla

this is why i get full insurance in case some LOSER pushes it over or worse!

Not really I was thinking of putting it back in my backyard in the morning.. I probably should add theft insurance if progressive offers it but there's  nothing to chain it to. The thieves in this area are pretty crafty

yeah out of sight is a good solution to start with .. with a lot of thieves the best bet is to slow down the process of removal as much as you can...

there are also some reasonably cheap and simple alarms ... that go off when the bike gets moved more than a little bit (like wind or just a bump) ... i put my Ignitor alarm under the seat in the ducktail area... 2 wire hookup .. ignition key operation... shrieks like a demon ..

thieves hate getting noticed....

insurance can be cheaper with an alarm fitted too

where did you get this and how much?

http://ignitoralarms.com.au/descriptionM1.html

M1 is $198 AU .. free shipping in Australia
M2 is $495 AU ... ditto
aussie mob ... they can ship pretty much anywhere i believe , however if there was any issues with shipping the company is under an hour from my house and only about half hour from work .. willing to post them to anyone.  :thumb:

they also did a M2 model for a little while which had a mobile phone type chip inside... would send you tracking info to your mobile phone if it went off... but demand at the time was lacking and they have suspended production for now.

in very heavy gusty winds the alarm will occasionally go off .. i have an F bike and the fairings give it a bit more "sail" area ...

i mounted mine on the little crossbrace under rear of seat .. it eats into the 'toolbox' area a little but still leaves room... the alarm faces backwards and about 20 degrees down from horizontal... wired it to battery with one wire and the tail light wire with other.....makes that alarm noise that gets inside your head ..

mounted one on my nieces bike also.. hyosung gv250 .. under the left side pod thing at front of seat ... facing almost straight down.... its a lot harder to set off.... and was a bit more fiddly with the wiring connections cos the hyo does not have a hardwired on headlight... still works though..

i met the people in person at Sydney Motorcycle expo several years ago... good people! .. little family type business mostly... but they do good workmanship!

OR someone backed into it parking and knocked it over. They stood it back up to hid their crappy parking skills. I doubt a thief would stand it back up.

newbie1993

Definitely knocked over.. It was park on a slight down hill slope and my right side from turn signal was broken also suggesting knocking over... Luckily it was covered there might've been more damage

Just a note in how to park your bike. Always: 1) Put in first gear and roll it so it stops with clutch out(that's your only parking brake).  2) Put on side stand. 3) Turn bars all the way to the left.

There are some other things you do in certain situations as well, but those above you should always practice.

I always turn my bars all the way to the left because I always lock my bars but I definitely have to practice the first gear parking brake method

BockinBboy

Yep.  That way it can't roll forward and fold up your kickstand.

Sorry to hear about that.
You need to call Progressive and add Comprehensive insurance. It's the cheapest add on they have.

I believe hit skip damage is covered by uninsured motorist coverage if you have that, it could vary by state though.

My bike is always parked in first gear except when in my garage ready to start again in neutral.  I shut off the engne with the kickstand when parking.
