You guys there is a lot I don't know. I have no problem admitting that.
This I do know.

What I linked above works. I have done it on 3 Gs's now, I have recommended it to many others and they have bought it and its worked.

Heres a pic of the clearances on my tank as of seconds ago:

Yes I use zip ties but there is room for clamps if you prefer.

1/4 fits all day I have done 3 that way as many others have too. Buddha was the one that mentioned 1/4 in a thread I bought both sizes and 1/4 ID fits.

Just a heads up.. 1/4 I.D was a real squeeze.. I literally had to force it on

6MM=.236
7MM=.276
8MM=.315

The fitting is 8 MM after the barb (enlarged part). I checked my fuel line and the one that was replaced was 1/4 inch. I would prefer 7-7.5 MM but that is probably more expensive. It's a tight fit when you get the EFI reinforced hose, even 1/4 inch. I don't think it is a matter of right or wrong. You probably don't even need clamps with 1/4 inch, but it is harder to get on the barb. Personally I am a little leery of stretching the hose as far as it is in snake's picture, but most modern hose can handle it.

You do it dry? Try a little 2 cycle oil or similar slides on pretty quick.

Factory is 7 MM, .276 inch.
5/16 is .312, just a shade under the .315 of the 8 MM neck.
