Put the petcock back in after a good JB Weld to the reserve connector, gave her a good carb sync with a $10 homemade monometer and the "hillbilly carb sync" method (courtesy of all you backyard mechanics here), and replaced all of those obnoxious SS fuel lines with 3/8" fuel line.

It's amazing what a little bit of love will do to a bike.

Give her a serv... I mean a service a few days ago. See >> The Cost to Service Your Bike Yourself as to a Dealer. http://youtu.be/Nri_xAoeg6k

Yeah dealer servicing in AUS is ridiculous, especially major services. The dealer i bought my bike from said the price would be the same each time.. what a crock. $240 for the 1000km, $320 for the 6000km. Didn't take long for them to go back on their word!  :icon_lol:

Not to mention they are generally careless with your bike and often damage it. They can indeed stick it in their ring.

took it out for a test ride in the community after finishing up the surgery from repairing "goats"!!!

everything checked out after a minor clutch adjustment issue (the fiancee fiddling with nuts that shouldn't be fiddled with :nono:), then we rode down to st. augustine for lunch and ice cream before the 5 o'clock florida rains rolled in.

I wired up a 12V adapter with an in-line fuse and a toggle switch (so it doesn't drain the battery). And my saddle bags came in today! I'm all ready for Delmarva!

new oil filter .. crush washer (cos the one on there .. i dont even know what its off... but it wasnt even close to right!!) .. and washed the gizzards down with a few litres of Valvoline Super Diesel 15w/40 ... my first real engine maint .. not done by a bike mechanic  :D

oh and got it inspected for rego.... almost 3 minutes this time!  :icon_rolleyes:

Zookmang

Is your bike a high km one? or is there an advantage to using heavier oil? Thought 10w/40 was recommended..

Janx101

just rolled through 18k ... i been topping it up with 15/40 since last service... generally i think the higher kms 'benefit' from the oil... but .. i have a 44gal drum of the stuff for the trucks... gsJack been use 15/40 for awhile i think.. cant see the harm in it...

now wait for the oil wars!!  :icon_rolleyes: :icon_twisted:

Zookmang

Ahh, yeah makes sense if you got litres and litres of the stuff. Mine just hit 16k today, only a year old!
