Got .95s in earlier this year .. Love them! ... Just the ass has been getting all Cadillac on me lately!

I'm about 13kg more ... So I'll go at least 4 to start and see how it goes... The poor old stocker has always been up on 7!!!

... Glad my OEM toolkit Baggie has the shock wrench thingy eh!

Well my friend you are in for a pleasant surprise :)
I took my little GS out today to get rid of the cobwebs and realised how much I love the Katana Shock and .95 Springs I installed before I bought the WeeStrom

Next budget items are air cleaner and plugs ... These plugs are still good but wanna try the brisks ..

After that is the sprockets and chain ... Which are really more overdue .. But I know roughly when the budget is gonna fit the needs   :icon_rolleyes:

Hmmm I could ... But then it wouldn't grind sand into all the "anti's" gears ... Would it ?  :icon_twisted: ;)

Zookmang

Your sprockets and chain are stuffed at 18k? How is that possible? mine still look new.

Janx101

Because (I think) ... I'm owner 3 ... First bloke dropped it after a few weeks and left it in shed for awhile where by the look of it later it rusted a bit on the rollers ... 2nd owner greased the chain .. Lots ... With grease ... But by the look of it when I bought it... Never really adjusted it much or wiped the grit and debris out of the old grease ... It was flexi and funky ... I spent a few hours with toothbrush and cloths and cleaner etc .. And rehab it somewhat ... Then got a mate to help me adjust it better ...

The sprockets are not shot ... But they are worn enough for me to want to change them ... The chain is suffering still but surviving ... I would have done it last year probably but budget and time constraints kept on interfering ... And considering I wasn't riding frequently it got pushed back and back ...

Good or poor maintenance can have a significant effect on your chain and sprockets  :thumb:

Clearly does! I'm pretty overzealous about that sorta thing.. maintenance is cheap, parts are expensive.

Had to bump start it for the first time with this battery (2 year old stock type lead acid).  Good reminder that I should check the electrolyte level and top it off and put it back on the battery tender when I get home.  Hopefully after keeping the rpms up on the 6 mile commute, it will have charged enough so I don't have to bump it again after work.  This is what I get for only riding it 2 times in 3 or 4 weeks.

It might be time for a new battery,it should hold a charge even if you only rode it 3-4 times in the last month. You should be able to leave it for a couple months with no problem.

I think I can make it last the rest of the season by using a battery tender and refilling electrolyte, but it's probably time for a new one for next year.  Is it normal for a battery to die after just a regular 2 years of use?  I might test voltages on my charging system too after leaving the battery on the smart charger overnight.

adidasguy

My stock battery in Suzi (new, May 2010) lasted for a year and a half then went through a rapid death in 10 days.
Shorai ever since.
If you need a battery tender - then your battery is bad. Plain and simple.

NortwestRider

The Shorai in Dora sat for over 6 months then started right up.The AGM battery in my sidecar rig sat outside for 5 months and also started right up.

One other thing to remember-----
If you need a battery tender when your bike sits over night, what will happen when it sits all day outside of work for 10 hours? Weill it start up when you need to go home? Will the battery take its last gasp when you're at work?

dropped her in my driveway. just cosmetic damage, but very angry with myself.

Been there, done that... It sucks. I actually almost dropped it tonight. I was aiming my headlight using the garage door and forgot that I didn't have the kickstand down.
Blue 2004F with some fun stuff
Lunchbox, 22.5/65/147.5, Jardine, 17/39, R6 throttle, R6 shock, .85 springs, GSXR1100 rearsets, Clubmans+Rox 2" risers, T-Rex sliders, flush mount fronts, integrated LED tail, integrated LED fronts, HID Projector, blue gauge LEDs, 12V outlet

And 96.5% more wub wub

Bike started right up after work.  I can tell this battery sucks though because my headlight dims slightly when I apply the brakes or turn signals at idle.

Janx101

yeah they do that Bomb! ... i had same effect with the old lead acid battery .. and still same with the brand new AGM battery ...

dunno if anyone really has come up with a fix for it yet!? ... install 'new and improved' charging system perhaps? ... far as i know its a GS500 thing  :dunno_black:
