Anyone other than me currently racing these things...?

Your bike looks good! I would love to try and race my bike sometime. I live pretty close to Mid-Ohio now...

I also had never seen those GS500 fairing kits before, some of the stuff they do for other bikes looks pretty cool as well.

I have Diablo Rosso II 160/60-17 on Kat rear wheel, and it's visibly narrower than for example Michelin Power One, or Dunlop Qualifier of the same size. No clearance issues whatsoever.

So, I believe a 150 D.Rosso II would still be ok on GS wheel.

Sent from my toilet seat using HTC FartPhone

Checked the 2013  Pirelli Tire Guide and see there are 2 different 160/60 Rosso ll tires.  The ZR rated one seems to have a normal 160 tire width but the static width is not shown for the H speed rated one.  But the max width in service is 7 mm narrower for the H rated one so I assume the static width difference is similar.  I assume you are running the H rated one without clearance issues?  Must have required a bend in the brake brace but no chain clearance issue?

I would agree the 150/60 could be run on the stock 3.5 wheel as others are without issues beyond the brake brace but would choose the 140/70 H rated tire if I wanted a Rosso ll for my GS, it's a better fit all around and was made for Ninja 500/250 and GS500 class racing.

I started doing the spec racing thing three years ago and have tried literally every tire combo out there, including mixing and matching.  Initially the Michelins (110F/150R) were the hot setup, but they stopped making the 150 rear.

I didn't like the Pirelli's beyond the first day of use.  ON rails day one, on marshmallows day two and beyond.  110F/140R had the best profiles and best tip-in of all the setups, but went away too quickly.

Probably my fav setup is Bridgestone R10 120F and the Dunlop Unbeaten 150R, but I've been running Dunlop Front and Rear this season just to be a better tire customer to the Dunlop guy.   :)

My experience is that (if I were going to run a 110F) the ONLY one I would run is the Pirelli, all the others are way too square and chatter like mad mid-turn.  The Dunlop was so bad I ran 7 laps on it and hated it so much I gave it away.

^^^  Thanks for the info!  Off to find some R6 lowering links   :thumb:

The r-6 shock i got off here raised through rear about an inch or so. Now the back tire isnt off the ground with the center stand down. Much better than stock.

Good to know, I don't recall that from other installs but I'll guess I'll wait on the links until I see where she sits once the R shock is in.

I have an sv front end on the front and a first gen sv wheel in the back. I run bridgestone slicks f/r, 120 in front and 160 in the rear...unbelievable tires and if desperate can always find great take offs from the sv crowd cheap!
