Washed and polished it with micro fibre cloths. it was a happy. Of course it is raining today and the poor beast is rather sad looking again.

does she live outside makman?

Yes, on the street in miserable London.  All my bikes have.  Gets washed regularly enough and will be giving it a nice ACF50 treatment session when I get another can.  Just a case of time. I've got some Scottoiler FS365, but the ACF50 is way better.

Zookmang

Is ACF50 a bit like WD40? Surely You'd need to drown her in the stuff to stop corrosion over there, with salty roads and stuff?

makman

http://www.acf-50.co.uk/motorcycle.htm have a read.  Kept my Triumph Looking new for 4 years of winter riding.

Zookmang

Looks like good stuff, interesting that it neutralizes salt.

makman

And more. it is a case of apply and leave for the winter season.  Clean bike in Spring and apply again.  It stays on under light washing, so cleaning off heavy salt crud with cold water is fine.  Cleaning bike using SnowFoam or bike gel will clean it off. Do not get it on your calipers or discs!!!
Reasonably pricey, but worth the spend.

I've just got to get a can for the Suzuki as the paintwork is noticably thinner than on the Triumph/Honda/Yamaha's have had before.  I've stripped and repainted parts of the swingarm already.  But, the engine is a peach and I'm quite happy with the little thing as a very competent commuter.

Zookmang

Might have to get something like this soon, my bike is a year old and has signs of rust forming on the welds in the frame. Sh** paint job. And my bike lives undercover, just gets rainy weather sometimes on the commute.

makman

Well worth it. If you don't have a compressor to atomise the ACF50, I just spray it into a small cap and use a small width paint brush to apply. It is then accurately placed on all metal parts where I want it and minimises waste which gladdens my Scottish heart!

woke up at 5:30 am unexplainably. what would most reasonable peopel do" Go to the bathroom...water, back to bed for another hour.

what did I do? went to the lot with a few wrenches, steel wool and grease and rubbed the rust off the bolts of the headlight triangle. Greased the threads and replaced. One at a time so the headlight adjustments stayed the same.

Tried to figure out a place to mount a GPS... the mount I bought is not great. Mounts to the handlebars but doesn't work very well with clipons... didn't think this through before I made the purchase lol. Still have to work something out. Also, wires came loose on the right side turn signal so fixed that.

NortwestRider

They have mounts that fit into the steering stem..

By any chance is it a Ram Mount 1" ball system like this?

It's got a ball mount, yep, but you can see how the base for the ball is pretty thick/wide. It fits on the clipons but doesn't allow the mount to rotate to an angle to point directly at you. I'd rather not purchase another mount at this point. Probably going to cut off a section of my old handlebars and put it back into the handlebar mounts, attach the gps mount to that, and call it a day. Assuming that I can still put the key in the ignition without trouble.

This is how I have my Garmin GPS mounted to my WR, the Ram Mount system is very stable...even off-road, maybe you can get some ideas from my photos? I can turn my GPS up and down or across, they have different length arms also.

I bought this Ram Mount 1" ball... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012TRIY4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
