So I just finished a ton of maintenance items I've been intending to do for a while.  Replaced the chain and sprockets (went to a 15 tooth), did a gsxr 750 rear shock swap, replaced brake pads and fluid, replaced valve shims, installed one of Bob B.'s ignition advancers, etc. 

I put everything back together today and reconnect the battery and the starter won't engage.  Lights and everything gets power but pressing the starter button doesn't do anything.  I'm thinking maybe I accidentally disconnected a relay or something somewhere?  I did a quick check of the wiring for loose connections, I didn't see anything that stood out, but that whole harness is a clusterf*ck.

Any ideas about what I should check?

Can you start it in neutral with the clutch pulled?

Nope, Bike is in neutral, clutch pulled, side stand up (or down), doesn't matter same issue.

Well then you might have to do some digging. Check the starter wires, check the clutch safety switch wire, and check the sidestand safety switch. If everything else comes on, it's likely one of those.

I took off the two wires connected to the clutch lever and the contacts were all greasy and dirty.  Cleaned up the contacts and it started right up.
