Hey guys, Buddy of mine just got himself a 696 monster after his korean peice of shaZam! hyosung gt125 kept giving him issues, So hes scrapping it for parts.. and being a mate hes giving me the tail and seat for free.. We both think it should fit easily.. the frames look crazily similar.. what is your thought and have you seen this before? cheers guys.

The seat front would probably fit better on the 01+ tanks. 

grab the whole front end while your at it.  duel brakes for super easy

similar frame.... probably close enough... you will need to fab a bracket interchange setup to secure the tail .. not a huge drama though..

I'm no expert on this, but isn't hyosung known for building licensed copies of popular bikes? Is it not possible that this bike is a GS500 frame with a 125cc v-twin in it? It looks identical!

It's the same shape, basic structure  .... But not the same frame ... The backbone where it drops vertical above the pegs .. That corner is different and so are several other areas by just a tiny bit ... And I think the Hyo's are a little shorter in backbone too ... The swing arm is also 'same' but dimensions vary .. Bolt down points for the innards/electrical components are close .. It is about as close as Hyo could go without actually violating design areas ...

All the fairings can likely be mounted with some minor mods or fabrication ... But it will not 'just click in' ...

It's is close granted .. But the Hyo in the picture has a vtwin engine.... Which does not make it a Harley

Suzuki and Hyosung have been holding hands for years. Suzuki have or at least did have financial interests in Hyosung and Hyosung manufacture Suzuki products under license. Both companies share technologies and manufacture components for each other. It follows that Suzuki must be satisfied with quality if they are allowing their name to be used 

They are a major player and have a quality product but because they have yet to establish themselves in western markets there is not much love for them and get sneered at.......ironically the same situation the big 4 were in about 40 years ago.

The GS5 frame is visually similar to the GT250 but that's where is ends. There are lots of subtle differences if you compare them closely, engine mounts being the main one.

That Hyosung tail would look really neat on a GS.

There are a lot of Hyosungs on the road in Australia. They make some good looking bikes but they have a well deserved reputation for unreliability.

The current models are better but very few fully licensed riders would own one. Korean cars have almost caught up with Japanese cars for reliability if not finish, handling and performance. Late model Toyota Corollas are amongst the worst handling and riding cars on the road and it is easily surpassed by the Hyundai i30.

I think its the early model ones that gave them a bad name here. Apparently the newer models aren't to bad.

Same in US. These are in cl all the time 1/2 the comparable $$ of jap and in 1/10 the condition. Junk.

There are always plenty of dire and near death GS5s on CL and the bay too don't forget

See the GS'es were bought by cheapskate newbies, but they are 20+ yrs old. The Syohungs are 3-4 years old and trashed. Its really really rare to see a 08 GS in as bad shape as the average syohung.

And no one likes to buy parts from the stealer ... and without a resident parts ho (like the adidas of gstwin) there is no option ... trust me there is no adidas in the syohung world, there is no adidas guy on any other planet.
