I'd like to remove these and repaint but I noticed the clutch cable would have to be disconnected to get the sprocket cover off. Are there any issues with doing this or is just an unbolt and reconnect when I'm done kind of thing?

Thanks all.

You'll need to re-adjust when you reconnect according to the manual. Did you get one of these yet?

Also, I noticed a tab thingy holding the end of the cable in place. It wasn't mentioned in the manual. I ended up bending it to get the cable off the bracket inside the cover, then bending the tab back into place when done.

You'll have to disconnect the clutch cable from the screw gearshift assembly that pushes in the clutch rod.  Don't take the inner part of the screw assembly out of it's bearing inside the cover, it sits on loose ball bearings and they tend to fall out if the inner screw is removed (ask me how I know).  You can remove the 2 screws and remove the entire screw assembly from the cover as one piece so you can paint the cover.

Brooklyn and Brendan to the rescue! Thanks guys. I somehow managed to lose my manual... perhaps I'll buy another from the folks on this site.

I'll post some pictures (eventually) of my point job.

Thanks again!
