in the process of replacing my busted journal caps(http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=65635.msg786860#msg786860)i was tightening down the bolts as shown in the top end build part 4 video. my cheap *** in-lb torque wrench decided it wasn't going to work. now i have a portion of a sheared off bolt inside the bolt hole. the bolt doesn't stick above in the opening.so what ways could i get the remaining bolt out and how am i going to fix it?  thanks for your help everyone.

Err .. Sharp point centre punch to make a start point ... Small drill to go down centre .... Slightly larger drill to suit available easy-out ... Take care!?

You probably have to drill the stub out. Its probably a lot easier to get it out with the head off.

i can't say that sounds fun. i hope i can find a way to do it with the head  still on but not likely.

The bolt probably is loose. Especially if you got oil in that hole and the bolt hasn't bottomed in the hole (whihc I doubt it did).
You can tap it with a dittle drift, and make sure it is loose, then see if you can turn it with a screwdriver or something, just turn the bolt not drill etc etc ...

Failing that - You may be able to turn it as you drill with a left handed drill.

But the thing is you twisted it to failure, so are likely to have what is called shear failure. It will be not a straight across break, it will likely be a 45 degree break.

If there's no part of the bolt sticking out, it'll be hard to dremel a slot for a screwdriver.  Go to sears and get one of their extractor sets for the size of the bolt.
