Getting rid of that idiotic clutch push rod and the left side mechanism - ideas

OK I have been thinking of how I can lose the clutch push rod and the clutch cam and what not from the sproket cover.

My prefered solution would be to get the clutch on the right side. I am trying to get the thing converted to belt drive and need 5" diameter pulley to fit on the counter shaft and not hit anything,

Anyone ?

Would the shift shaft be okay where it is, or would that need to be messed with too?

Would you be able to make a u-shaped bracket with a pin on either end to act as a 'bowed out' push rod, or would the travel interfere with the pulley?

Badot: This was the only solution I came up with mentally. It could work, if that U shaped bugger was stiff enough - which I think it would be. The gear shift shaft will have to be cut down and a linkage put in etc etc ... I can do that, that is not an issue.

Bockinboy: Smart alec ... I love the belt drive on the buell, it even had a non adjustable rear wheel, the belt is set tight by a idler pulley on the bottom side. The irritating think about the buell ... the rest of the buell.

check out the GSx750,1100 engine from the early 80's  would have to mod the side cover but not imposible

I have one of these covers off first gen GSXR lying around, yes its cool, I cant see how I can mod the GS clutch cover so much though ... need to "cut and paste" it literally

the idea would be to fit up the clutch "rack" and cover to the basket and see how far the "rack" would stick past the outside of the gs500 cover.  then build a box to hold the "Pinion" shaft, once the box it built put a seal at the top, slip the lever on and find an ancor point for the cable houseing to pull against.  the GSX 750/1100 i think share the same clutch basket and springs, but the pressure plates are diff due to diff actuation.  im kinda supprised you havent rigged up a slave cyl and gone hydro clutch yet

Buddha, you ever finish the 650 transplant? ( gr650 into gs500) i know the exhaust was a bit of a hangup lol
