Good way to start and while your at it take off the valve cover and have a look in there too, check for valve clearance and make sure buckets will spin free when unloaded.  It's not the infamous GS cam knock, sounds more like a tappet like sound than a bearing sound to me.  Whatever it is eliminate the quick and easy things first so you don't have to speculate about them later.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Hydraulic tappet correct? maybe new shims?

Ok so i cracked open the valve case and was checking the valve adjustment. Everything looks pretty good except that there is ZERO clearance between both intakes and 1mm between camshaft and shim. I think the noise might be the valves hitting the camshafts? Now do i need to buy new shims with different size or is there valve spring adjustment?

You change shims. There are plenty of videos on doing valve adjustments and everyone has their own take on it.
Best to go by the book (Haynes, Clymer or Suzuki) and watch the videos to see it done before you attempt it.
