Has anyone tried to run a 04+ crank trigger on a 89-00 bike ?
I think a black box + rotor + the trigger can be swapped and should work.
Anyone know for sure ?

Those 3 parts work together. The trick is plugging in the ignition box - they have different plugs for the 89-00 and 2004+.
It may involve changing the wiring harness to use the new ignition.
Fortunately, you can get the newer harness pretty cheap - like $15. Old wiring harnesses are very expensive if you can find one in decent condition.
Newer ignition boxes cheap. Old ones expensive.
Older dual timing pickup and newer one are plug compatible. Same 4 pin plug on them. The newer one with one pickup just has one wire missing in the connector.

The trigger - I know someone who would like it - I was asking somewhat as a academic excercise.
