PO cut the end-plate out of my muffler, and whilst I don't mind a bit of a growl, it's a bit too much... probably would be a bit of a cop-magnet.
So I'm thinking of fabricating one. Does anyone have a shot that'll give me an idea what it should be like?
(A pic from behind the bike looking at the muffler end fairly close up would be good).

so they cut the end off the muffler Eh? essentially making a shiny "straight pipe?" will see if i can find a pic of one. tbh might be easier to find an unmolested stock pipe for a gs. depending on location of course

This pic may clarify it. The PO cut out the 'internal end' not the 'whole end' Shouldn't be too hard to fabricate something if I have reference as to how it should look... maybe it's a perforated plate -or what?

The end baffle head has been cut out.  That thing can't be fixed, honestly, short of cutting the end off, welding on a new baffle, and welding the end back on.  Look for a used stock exhaust system for sale or, better yet, find a quietish aftermarket muffler and weld THAT on instead.  If you take your time, you can find a reasonably quiet aftermarket muffler.  Mine has a deep thump at idle but won't wake my neighbors.

Look on ebay for a used one or go to nearest moto wreckers and get another.

Wot and get them further on their way to their next V8 super-ute !

"What man hath made, man may make again" who said that? I still want to fix it... stubborn bastard (with more time than money). I can get a slip on reasonably cheap, but I wouldn't mind keeping it original, plus before I ran the thing I had already made a new stainless steel outer 'trim' for the muffler... cunningly using an old stainless flue pipe.

have got 2 stock cans, and one complete exhaust pipe for a gs trapped in that damned car. got to pull them out and send to whomever can use. gstwin has helped me out when needed so im going to return that favour. but geez, whodathunkit would be so difficult to break into a cop car lol.

Ta for the Tassie tip Janx, $41 delivered ain't so bad, but the thing may be worse than mine, and mine costs $41 less! The SS outer is certainly well stuffed! And there's the thing of cutting my existing one to weld it on - no biggie this but.
(Yama needs an Aussie-sized crow bar I reckon!)

Depends on how attached he is to the Vic ... Gas-axe or 10" grinder would have it open in under a minute  ;)

I actually have a muffler you can have for postage?
Its got a hole in it but the end you need is good?
I could just cut the last 6 inches off to save on postage?

Its of no use to me?
It has the headers still connected as well so I can cut it wherever you like and post it to you. If you only want half the muffler I will cut it for you.
