Hey all.

I'm currently in the process of replacing my clutch cable and before It comes in the mail later today I decided to take off the sprocket cover and cable and clean out the cover before I replace it.

One thing I noticed and didn't surprise me was all the gunk that was in the sprocket cover, but what did surprise me is I found like 20-30 small rubber stoppers in the gunk. Are those rubber stoppers suppose to be on something? It seems the rubber stoppers are IN the gunk and not just fallen into it.

Also I "misplaced" the order the sprocket cover screws were suppose to go in so I'm not sure what screw goes where. Can anybody help me into figuring out which length of screw goes where?

Those pieces of rubber are likely bad o-rings that have been flung by your bike's drive chain.
It sounds like its time to replace the chain AND sprockets with good quality parts. I would NOT just replace the chain as the chain and sprockets wear into each other and should be replaced as a set.
As far as the cover screws, you will be able to see which one goes where when you reinstall it. The longer ones will stick out too far in the wrong holes and the shorter ones won't thread into the deeper holes. You'll see what I mean when you reassemble it all.

With the cover positioned on, just place the screws in the holes so they all have approx the same amount of head sticking-out.
What make of chain is it cos unless it's been abused i know another thing to avoid?

Yeah, my first thought was O-rings from the chain to. But to be safe and sure, post up some pics
