I just pick up a 1980 gs1000,   it is mechanically sound.  But it is in DIRE need of a new paint job.   I'm haveing a hard time deciding what color I should paint her.  :dunno:  So  I figured that I would ask the forum for suggestions and ideas.   All ideas and color schemes will be considered.   I'm looking for something that stands out,    but doesnt jump out!
 I will post a before picture, later this afternoon, and then when I finish the paint job I will post some after pictures.

I still have my 96 GS 500,  she is still by daily driver until I get the GS1000 finished.  And the I will have to flip a coin every morning to decided which one to ride! lol :mrgreen:

Or, how about the yellow, blue and white scheme of Randy Mamola's Grand Prix RGV500 Gamma. What year was that?...

Without getting into specific color schemes, there are several general styling options, depending on which model you have.  I'd visit www.suzukicycles.org, which has images of virtually every Suzuki ever made.  Likewise, www.thegsresources.com is a site dedicaed to old GS's, and has a gallery whch to draw ideas from.  Try to post a pic if you can, it's nice to have the canvas in front of the artist to determine how to paint it.

That's the classic roadster style; works best with a chrome exhaust, a solid color tank and plastic, and other shiny bits.  The Kerker 4-1 is a nice touch.  The tank and covers appear to have come off an '82 GS750E.  The only clumsy styling element is the chromed front fender, and the plastic one out back.  Now if you could find a painted front, you'd be in business.

ok,  as it sits right now.  The gs1000 is flat black, the guy who had it before me painted it with a piss can.  THe front fender is painted, not chromed.  

I havent decided if I want to go with the classic look and make it look like it just came off of the showroom floor.  OR if I want to do a custom paint job, and create some serious eye candy!!!   The wife says I cant paint it until we get back from vacation  at the end of july.  She said something about me not getting tunnel vision on the gs1000, because other projects have priority over it!!  So as not upset the home life, it looks like I will be dreaming and thinking up a color scheme for the next month.

Dreaming can be a good thing~!!!

Perhaps I should have suggested fitting a chrome rear fender off a KZ900/1000, which also featured a painted tailpiece.  The options are limitless!

Thank all of you for your suggestions and inputs.  

My mind is spinning with the possiblities for the gs1000!!!  I think I will go by  the paint shop this afternoon and see what they have.
