Hi all and thanks in advance for your responses to my first post!

My bike was damaged by a car that knocked it over while it was parked and now I would like to convert it to a naked Streetfighter with the F headlight.  I have no time or skill to do it myself so I will have to have my mechanic do it if it is even a viable option.  What I am looking to do is something like what gsJack and rebel_rocket did in the "Making a GS500F Naked" thread.

I am looking for feedback on:
1) how many hours you think it might take my mechanic to accomplish what they did (I realize this may be rough);
2) what parts I will need;
3) suggestions for my mechanic;
4) anything that I should think about before going for it'
5) and any economical ideas for taking it a.

So far I have gathered that I will need the following:
1)  Drag Specialties universal side mount headlight brackets from Dennis Kirk

Any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated!

By the way, this is a 2006 model.

Another question I have is: How might this conversion effect the resale price?  (I realize it will go sown but any ideas on how much?)

Thanks again in advance for sharing your experiences and knowledge, it is super valuable to me (a pretty big motorcycle noob)! :D

Most naked versions using the "F" headlight, well, look kind of odd. You'd be better (in my opinion) getting headlight mounts and put on a 7" round headlight or a rectangle headlight.

Pulling off the fairings is fast and easy. If you have the headlight parts in hand, you can mount a new headlight and turn signals in an afternoon.

Done tastefully and with good style, you'd not do much for the resale value by going naked.

However, fabricating a home made mount for the "F" headlight would decrease value. They are not meant to be mounted without a fairing. Anything done would probably look cheesy compared with going more traditional with a stock style headlight.

What Adidas said.

Just be careful if you get aftermarket headlight brackets. They're good because you don't have to mess with the forks, but some don't work very well, or at all in my case.

With OEM's you don't have to bother the forks. Take off the top triple and slip them down on the forks. Real easy and simple. (ask me how I know)

This guy used the GS500F headlight on a naked conversion and I don't think that it looks cheesy at all.

cheesy? no. but imho it looks like its missing something. but to the OP, if hiring the job out, have a plan in place cause you WILL be charged for all time involved. or do as much of the work as you are willing to attempt. most of job can be done with simple hand tools. specially with end of riding season for sane folks lol. wouldn't take long. but as I said. do as much of the work as you are able, then farm out what you cannot do. we can talk you through it.

If you ask me the 89-02 headlight, the brackets, the turn signals and everything associalted with that works the best.
The headlight ear type things, leave the headlight not staying aimed right ... the original has the ear that gets bolted to the right ear, that keeps it from drifting.

I did it as well origionally, before Adidas helped me.

Other than looking like a vag, the attention is in the details. Can't get it to look like it belongs, will always look...off.... up close. :thumb:

It looks better than most aftermarket street-fighter headlights.
