Hello.  I just purchased a new bike.  It was the proverbial offer I couldn't refuse:

A barely broken in 2003 SV650n with 4375 miles, new tires last year, Yosh slipon, Racetech emulators, frame sliders and swing arm spools, fender eliminator, LED rear turn signals, bar end mirrors, power commander, gel seat, extended front fender and rear hugger.

Paid three thousand for it off an acquaintance's father (who's pushing 70) and is looking to get something new, like a Yamaha FZ-09.  I hope I have his energy when I am his age.

I'm gonna keep my GS500, get it sorted out, and give it to my wife, who is taking the MSF course in the spring.  I need something around the garage I can work on myself until I learn what I can wrench on this new bike (if anything.)

Nice bike. I hear they're as bulletproof as the GS's. There is nothing like the sound of the V-twin rumble. Have fun on it.

I'm sure you'll love your SV. I sure miss mine.

I had the first generation though - the one with the carbs and tubular frame. Some people say the EFI SV's need help from a power commander to be as smooth as possible - I can't speak to that as I've never ridden the EFI version.

I just LOVE SV's especially the first one.

I do too - I honestly regret selling mine. If I was to get another it would probably be the SV1000. I had a DL1000 but the bike was just too large for me. An SV1000 would have the same engine but in a more manageable package.

Don't get me wrong, I'd pick up another SV in a heartbeat if I had the funds. For now my GS will fit the bill for riding whenever I can.
