hi im new to the site i really like my GS its a fun little bike i was thinking originally of making it a stuntbike but realized it doesnt seem to have enough power to wheelie i was wondering if anyone could tell me some cheap mods that would give me some more power with out sacrificing too much top end speed

Definitely rejet the carbs.

K&N air filter and/or aftermarket exhaust would be less restrictive and allow you to up-size the carb jetting further than with a stock configuration.

Those upgrades (at least filter and jetting) will give you more power without changing the top speed.

For a bit more torque (but somewhat lower top speed) you can downsize the front sprocket and step up the rear sprocket size.

Easiest solution is to buy a cheap bandit 600 for stunting..

The OP is not asking how to turn the GS into a stunt bike, but rather what upgrades will give it more power.

Sprockets alone will give wheelies.  :D

Keep in mind that increasing the sprocket ratio (down in front or up in rear), will cause you to lose top speed and rev higher on the highway due to the shorter gears. However, in the city that hardly matters. You'll be shifting more, though. So, it really depends on what you want to use it for. I mainly commute, so I did the big 3 (intake, exhaust, and rejet), and a timing advance, then went up to a 17T front sprocket. Plenty of power, while keeping it less buzzy on the highway. Just something to take into consideration.

I can say that with my 09 GS500 a K&N drop-in filter and massive rejet (up 5 sizes on the main) has given it a noticeably harder pull; when rolling on the throttle I can feel the front end unloading, but not so much so as to be able to do a roll-on wheelie.  I could possibly do a clutched wheelie, but I haven't tried.  Lowering the gear ratio of the final drive will give you more torque to the wheels, but as said before you will be losing some in terms of top speed (depending on how much you change the gearing).

I may be getting a Yosh pipe from a buddy, and that would allow me to open it up even further.

If you want wheelies buy a 15 tooth front sprocket. If you the best top end for this bike get a 17 tooth front sprocket. I've read on this site that a 15t will give pull the front wheels up in 2nd. I've bettered my topend with a 17t. You can lower it, add lights, power outlets,  anything you want. The only limit is your budget and your abilities. Number 1 rule is, just put your knees in the breeze and enjoy tbe ride.

Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Very talented riding. It that you on the bike. What gearing are you running and what's the mpg you get?

slipperymongoose

Nah that's just a clip on YouTube I found. But looks like you can stunt these bikes. Would be a good option nice n cheap to convert to stunt and easy to fix.
