SO on re-wiring the bike i tried to start it, it doesn't turn the motor for long, just one spin. But as soon as you press the start button the positive on the battery starts smoking.

Where could this short be?

Battery is measuring 15V~ across the terminals. So battery is charged, the engine has stood for awhile.

The only wires not plugged in are the rear tail light + indicators.

Also, i use the Pods but they dont fit anymore, i was thinking of buying some silicone piping like that are used in turbos and induction kits to hang it out from the side. But i can't measure it up without buying some which is costly for a maybe.

Anyone had any experience using another material which can be made at home? Maybe fiberglass over something?

Pull the spark plugs out when you try to spin the motor over. 15 volts is plenty to spin the motor over, so I'm thinking your cylinders "might" be filled with gasoline. And just in case, don't put the spark plugs back in the boots - don't want to make a firebomb.......

Can't help with the spark across the battery though. Maybe dirty connections at the battery terminals?

Look on K&N's website at the dimensions of their lunchbox filter for the Gs - it should list the mounting diameter there. Then you can use that size for any silicon tubing.

It's opener there in the wide open air...

Smoke from the terminals could also be a sign of a loose connection on the battery terminal.

Ok ill give it another go, and ill double check all connectors, would it smoke if the connectors had a little moisture inside the connectors?

Basically i moved the rear back shock mount and the mount bar now sits say 10mm into where the pods sit, they come off easy and want to make a good connection so i don't get unfiltered air into my carbs.
