What's up GSTwin? Been off a GS500 for 9 months now, through a '94 GSXR and now I'm on to a 2002 SV650! I'll keep this thread updated with some of the cool stuff I'll get done to it, and other nagging anythings I feel like sharing. So without further ado, the newest vehicle I've ever owned!

The bike is an '02 naked model. PO added some streetfightery headlight and Vortex clip ons. I found it has a K&N drop in filter that looks damn clear clogged on it as well. Throttle tube is like half disintegrated, and the grips are shot. Rear tire has a plug in the SIDEWALL and the tire was also ridden on flat. Front tire is from 2008. Looking at $200 for tires, $10 for an R6 throttle tube, and possibly a chain. Ended up stealing it for $1100, which for my area is about $1400 cheaper than one in the same shape this will be after $300 work.  :woohoo:

Thats a very nice looking sv650 you got there! And its still a suzuki twin so your doing better than me so far :)

I love how clean the undertail looks, and the nice look the clip ons added.

Looking forward to the updates! Good luck.

No pictures so far, but I have painted the front forks black on the start of my grand plan.

So my to do list is as follows:
Paint forks black - done
Either paint or use bedliner on the frame
Paint belly pan yellow
Find a rear seat cowl
Bar end mirrors
Danmoto Carbon fiber slip on

And I think that's about it for looks. Going to re-jet to match the K&N drop in filter and slip on if it's not already jetted for said combo. Just excited to ride something torquey on the street! My gixxer was gutless below 6,000rpm so I'm excited for a fun street ride  :woohoo:

That looks a nice clean sv....personally,I prefer the mk1 to the mk2...and as for the gladius, I think its a step backwards styling wise compared to this model. More pics on the progress as it happens plz. :D :D :D :D

Operation bumblebee is running full bore now haha. Picked up a rear tire off my bike building buddy for $40 and then mounted it for free because I stopped in at work to do so. The inside of my old rear tire was UGLY. 2 plugs in the sidewall... Wow. That pile o crapola is gone now though. And ya know, because the wheel was off the bike..

Only got one side done today because of sunlight disappearing, and running out of masking tape. Need to get some notecards to make my life easier for sure. But progress is progress

The frame will be seeing the "paint booth" soon. Swing arm will be getting painted as well while the wheel is off

Damn good deal and it looks clean mang! I was just looking at one for $1300, none running and pretty ratty. You definitely stole that one! Have always loved the SV's

A little tip, buy a pack of index cards/playing cards and stick em in between the tire/rim, like so. Not quite as clean as masking, but quick and easy
if yer binders ain't squeakin, you ain't tweakin!

Thanks man!  :woohoo: I made sure not to show off the big ole dent on the other side of the tank  I think I'm going to try and do the hot glue trick on that one

I was pissed today when I couldn't find my index cards lol. I think I threw out my wheel painting set after I did my sisters jeep. After 4 sets painted with them they started sticking together something fierce!

Damn, that looks good. Don't forget to do the front wheel! Haha. Keep up the improvements.

mustangGT90210

Lol can't forget that! I just don't have a front stand at the moment and I'm more concerned about getting this on the road! It's going to be registered on Friday morning and the forecast is calling for a high of 58, low of 39, and damnit I'm going for a good ride before work. Or after. And to work.

That wheel will get painted when I'm getting ready to throw on a new front tire. Still trying to figure a redneck way to support the bike. Thinking the frame sliders they make for this will work

Cosmetically she's just about done for the moment! Now time to move into mechanicals. Front brake pads for sure. Rear brake doesn't return.. As in press the pedal and when I take my foot off of it, the brake stays engaged until I pull the pedal back to the top of it's travel. See if some SS lines exist for the front... New chain and sprockets will be in a few thousand miles, and for the love of god, I NEED to upgrade the front end. Hopping off my gixxer, this thing handles like absolute shaZam!! Front end is all bouncy and never feels planted

So fast, my stator cover gasket just couldn't hold itself together

Tomorrow it gets some stuff :) Got new mains jets getting ordered tomorrow, and front brake pads, starting the research on fork springs and what not, good stuff! Also put an FZ1 throttle tube on it yesterday... World of a difference over the broken one I had on it lol

Well progress has been slowish on this build, my beloved F150 started dying on me and I almost had to sell this and the truck to get something new. Ended up getting "lucky" and found a GMC Sierra 1500 for a price I could afford. Only got one problem with that thing... It's a damn Chevy  lol

Ok back to the topic at hand here. 02 SV650, project bumblebee.

Progress has been made. I stopped being lazy (and broke) and finally got some money saved to get this thing up and going right. Got the front wheel painted today, so the blackout is now complete minus passenger pegs  :thumb: Ordered a Dan Moto exhaust that came in today as well... cheap, yes. But I like it and it seems to be of pretty good quality. Sounds hella sweet too! And to top it all off, and the whole reason I waited so long to paint the front wheel... Got a new front tire!

So now I just need brake pads. Ordering tomorrow, for real this time. I've been putting it off for like 4 months  :embarrassed:

Looks fantastic man, great job. Really like the dam moto exhaust. Got a good camera that can do a quality sound clip of it? Haha.

mustangGT90210

Thanks  :woohoo:

re - camera: Not really? Maybe? Not sure lol I just have my phone. Sounds sweet though. Never rough on the ears, makes it sound smooth all the time. It was super blatty and poppy when it had no muffler. Big improvement!

Still got my misfire around 7k rpm that it can't pull through, and it pulls left (really hoping that's not a fork...), but aside from that it's pretty solid. I can ride it daily and have no worries and that's the most important part!

Build money is always such a hard decision lol. I got this I want to get perfect, but my truck needs a 4" lift to fit the 33x12.50 tires I've got for it... Rough world!

I had forgot that you were just running a straight pipe. Any slip on is huge improvement over a straight pipe imo.

I think its time for a gsxr usd fork swap :DDDD

Would complete the ultimate street fighter look!

Btw, i mentioned this when you first posted the thread, but i have never seen an sv with such a clean under tail. Looking better and better with all the black accents, keep it up.

mustangGT90210

Thanks man! I have no clue where this undertail came from, but I love the thing. It's a quality piece too, someone loved this before I got to it.

USD forks are definitely on the radar. As in I REALLLLYYY want them. I just can't throw around that cash yet

Clutch cable comes in today, so I can ride to work every day for the forseeable future :D Gotta start making my bike known to this town. I've had it almost 6 months (holy shaZam!) and put 2k miles on it because it's been more of a project than I expected
