Having problems with new relay and led signals

For now, you can remove the turn indicator lamp.

Where are you located? (It is not in your profile)

I used to do it for people. I'd send them a modified gauge light harness for a couple bucks in exchange for their non-modded one. Usually I never got one back so I ran out of spares and got tired of the frustration. It was a big loss on my end.

I pulled the bulb out it did nothing  still all flashing  and they actually stay on but just flash brighter when you turn on signals . Im at work and there's a radioshack next door I bought the diodes and going to get a solder gun and solder at harbor freight tonight. I'm just worried there is something else going on also. I'm in spokane btw you sent me the chain guard

You have something wrong in your wiring.
With the bulb out, it is the same as the bulb burning out. All 4 signals cannot blink together with the indicator bulb out. That is the ONLY connection between the left and right sides.

Suggestion: Put things back to stock for now. When the passes are clear, ride over to West Seattle and we'll do a wrench day. I have a spare bedroom you can stay the night.

Could I have possibly mixed positive and negative on signals? I had to use butt splices to connect I really don't want to take them off..

Could it possibly be that it is a 3 dollar relay?

On the front or the back, could you have mixed up the wires?
Black/white is ground (negative) and all black/white are the same.
as I recall, green is the right signal positive and black the left signal positive. Same front and rear.

A cheap flasher relay would only make them blink fast, slow, stay on (when left or right is on with the turn signal switch) or not at all.
When you push in the turn switch to turn off the turn signals, all power to the signals is disconnected. They can't go on.

So somewhere you have some wires mixed up.

As adidasguy said, solid on, not on, or wrong flash rate is the relay; all on/flashing has to do with the turn indicator wiring and current draw of the turn signals.  The best fix for the latter is the diode mod.

It has to be the relay everything magically worked perfect when I got home with the indicator bulb out and now all of a sudden there solid either right or left side I accidentally broke the indicator bulb so I'll order one of those and a better relay I got the diodes and solder iron so I'll put it together once they come in I looked at Adidas guys photos of how he soldered it and diagram of direction of diodes . Thank you guys for your help I would be completely lost with out it

I should have taken a pic of my super clean solder joints when I did my diode mod; they were perfect and smooth :D

Mines an 05 model and never had any trouble with my after market indicatirs. Other than when i fitted them they flashed at warp speed just changed the relay for a good quality after market one and that was it job done . No soldering or removing lights etc

It depends how much power the new turn signals draw.  In some cases with LED turn signals (primarily very low poer ones) and stock turn indicator, the turn indicator can act as a short between the 2 sides resulting in 4-way flashing regardless of whether you activate the left or right signal.  In that case you either need load resistors or the diode mod.

If you are replacing the tungsten filament bulbs in the cluster with LEDs, then the diode mod is a must or else the LED would only work for one direction (unless you can find a non-polarized LED).

I've been to 5 stores this morning trying to buy a relay instead of ordering it.

So soldered the diodes finally found a led relay in town everything is hooked up but indicator light is not working and left side blinkers not working and right side work perfect totally lost at this point

I take that back I rechecked everything I had wired the diodes incorrectly resoldered them everything works perfect with the 35$ relay from napa thank you guys for your help

If you want to use LEDs in the cluster, then you have to do the diode mod for the turn indicator.

Ahh yea ok, I replaced my whole gauge cluster with a koso RX2+ so wouldn't have that issue.

I did however have all the exact issues he was mentioning and those thingos fixed em.

smittybuilt92

Do you have a part number for that relay? I went to the local part store an they don't know what I'm talking about .

cyamaura

Technically the one I got is for trailers I went to many stores before I found it most people have no idea what they are looking up in there system r I would recommend ordering online just don't order the 4 dollar one I did lol
