Why yes ..... By looking at your fridge/freezer and then the item .... Can you work out why/where?

Watcher

umm lets see ... no, no ... and no ...

its a light gauge wire ... ruler in pic show it as 3.5" or 9cm long .. strictly speaking in the photo it is upside down ... that is the left side U shaped bit should be facing up ...

its not an actuator lever or part thereof ... of any sort...

once in place it is simply static ... and its job is to keep another thing/s static also ...

come to think of it i better do a pic of the widget in position .. for visual verification purposes later! :icon_mrgreen:

Me either. Doesn't look like it's holding anything in place. Might be to hold the shelf from moving up? Never realized we had an epidemic of refrigerator shelves flying up out of place. Maybe for earthquake zones?
Why are you looking here?

Must be an Ausie thing. We have better fridge's in the USA.

Don't know about you, but my freezer's shelves have food on them.  In my experience, weight on top of things usually means they don't move up easily   :icon_rolleyes:

Anyway...

Next picture!  My curiosity has been piqued!

Badot

All the ones I've seen have shelves that slide forward on 'tracks' molded into walls of the fridge. No open -> no slidey. Just out of curiosity, is that a norm where you are?

lol.... room full of wiseguys eh!!! lol

the fridge section down lower has the track things as Badot mentions .. the pic is the freezer/top shelf ..

yes weight holds things down Watcher! .. but a iced up freezer can get pesky with stuff stuck to it!

being a removalist i have seen many fridges with these still in.... i DO think they are transport purposed retainer clips to stop the shelves jiggling about and maybe damaging the inside of the freezer .. when us clumsy truck driver type people move them about!! .. but as i say .. quite a lot of fridges in 25 years i have moved.... and quite a lot of clips i have seen!  :flipoff:

... better fridges in the USA !! ... pffft .. of course!! .. to hold all the extra cold food and icecream that keeps most of the country extra fat!!  :flipoff: ;)

anyway guys ... glad to have kept you entertained and the game moving!  :icon_mrgreen:
