From what I can see of the front, it has good tread left and the rubber appears to be fairly new; so they were probably replaced at some point ;)

2009 Gs500f,  StainTune Exhaust,  LED Indicators, two tone leather seat and sticker rework! LOVE THAT BIKE :)

Speechless. only way i can describe how I feel after taking my bike out. It would be a small romance novel if I tried to explain it.
Everything i have read, been told about these bikes and what to expect is true. Now I need a gear rack for it to be able to take more then what I can fit in my pockets with me.

Just riding locally for now, but living on the edge of the hills means lots nice roads to travel and get my confidence and abilities back up to scratch.

Sweet  :thumb:

I dont know about racks but just got this awesome seat bag for mine that attaches to standard luggage hooks. Its bloody well made, plenty pockets, probably fit a helmet in there and comes with waterproof cover.  Got on ebay for $59 inc post. And what I like is you can remove in a second and even has shoulder strap, looks cool too!! Let me know if you want ebay link.

Nice bag. I am going to wait for a rack though. Call me fussy :cookoo: but i don't wont things rubbing on the plastics and the risk of scratches.

Oggys? Most of the English speaking world knows them as (frame) sliders.

We don't speak English in Australia! Lol After looking at the website seems oggies is a brand name,  seems like great idea for novices, I guess idea being the oggies hit the deck first if you drop your bike. At last I understand. ....

Even so you used to be a British colony  :flipoff:

And yes it must be a brand name that some of you have come to use colloquially (kind of like Xerox)

Gawd all furgin whatever...don't you Yanks know ANYTHING! Captain Jeffery Oggy came out on the first fleet to the Land of OZ in 1788. He was instrumental in equipping all the King's vessels with what were initially known as "side fenders"....quickly, as the high utility of the rope-and-oakum devices became known to officers, crew, and convicts, the fenders became known as "Oggy's Fenders" and hence "oggies." So there you go and here we are today.

Oggies, WesOz, now!

Ventura rack is OK. Bit of a fiddle to fit. The front end of the j-bars end up and under the fender. The way they bolt in we get a sort of upward force distribution of the load. Neat. Some PDF instruction sheets are floating around the net.

Don't buy a Ventura new. e-bay is your friend. The j-bars are the critical thing so if u can pick up a luggage rack cheap..go for it. You can actually cobble up a set of j-bars real easy. MIne are not gs500 specific but were bent up from - I think - a GSF650 set.

Worried about scratches....bit of clear contact is useful. Tank protector essential cos belt buckles are a demon.

Enjoy the ride.

Golly

Ive got a nice Motodry magnetic tank bag..hold a fairbit mate and a clear pouch for a gps or phone maps.
