I have a Suzuki GS-500F and I love it. Only thing is that my lawn mower sounds louder and meaner then my bike (sadly, I'm not even exagerating). Anyway, I really don't know much about motorcycle's so how can I get my bike to sound louder and better?

would you like to spend some money or  :dunno:

you can do a easy thing.....drill some holes in the back of the muffler

result: very loud lawnmower
you don't have to drill so many holes.....drill one or two (picke a drill bit size you want) and start the bike, if you want louder then drill some more......don't make the mistake of drilling 20 holes and then starting the bike and being too loud for your taste

or

you can get a cheap stock gsxr muffler on ebay and weld it to the gs pipe (you will need to make a bracket for the muffler) and have it sound something like this

Hey thanks. I think I am going to try drilling holes into my muffler since that is the easiest method of the two. What size drill bit should I use?

doesn't matter, if you use a small one then you'll need to drill more holes.....

i suggest using a 8mm first...or about the thickness of a pencil

the gs muffler is just rivetted on right?

if you are able to find an aftermarket pipe the same diameter, you could drill the rivets out of your stock pipe, slip the new pipe on, and put new rivets in it,

That sounds really sweet with the GSXR muffler, which size gixxer did you steal it from?

My buddy has a Honda Shadow ACE and he put some kind of aftermarket exhaust on it. When we go for cruises, his bike sounds louder than mine even when I'm sitting on mine and he's 10 feet ahead of me!  :x

thanks, it's from a 750 but by the looks i think the 600 750 and 1000 are all the same

you can get them from ebay for $5 or so

You could always chance it and see if a V&H full exhaust system will for on the 04.

I have one, and well.  it's very, very loud. has a nice "chop" to the sound, and really opens up the GS.  I spose my K&N and rejet doesn't hurt either.

I thought the same thing when I bought mine.  Sounds like a mower.    I put a Cobra on my GS500E and it has a good little growl to it.  You probably want more than that but it is good for me.  Not as throaty as GRU's but close.

Now ALL of the Snapper Mowers round here quiver when I cranker up!

:nana: snappers!

i reeeaaaallllllllllllllyyyyy like how that sounds. Do you think if you got any sport bike stock can it would sound like that? I found a few R1 titanium cans for cheap on ebay, but do you think they'd sound like that? Quieter because it's a bigger engine?

Is this legal though?  Like will it pass inspection?  Im a newbie only here for a month with my bike, but do they not need to be inspected every year so it doesnt matter?  I know people have super loud exhausts, so I take it that it doesnt matter most likely...right?

I have an 04 F and would like to try this and think most of you just did it on your older 90's GS500's (from the video etc)...anyone do this to an 2004 or 2005 F yet?  What do you think of it?

i welded a trombone to my exhaust pipe.  you can change the tone by moving the slide.  Its freaking awesome, But really I drilled my pipe before i got my yosh and it sounded funny i was sorta embarrased after i heard some sound clips of the wileyco.
