Birdman you don't wanna mess with Florida and the license bit! I.E it is a $1400 ticket if you have you tag in the wrong place. From my understanding driving without a M endorsement is a 2nd degree misdemenor and can result in 60 days in jail and or up to $500 fine.

To get the M endorsement though it is now required to take a MSF course.

Mary

Hey, thanks Mary !
Im looking online and cant get a straight answer on it even from Fl's own DMV site.
On one page they say they issue a provisional 90 day license, but on another, they
say that was done with in '08..... One DMV page says you can take a written test at
a local DMV, but another sez a school certificate is necessary.  :dunno_black:

I see you say the MSF course is mandatory which goes along with some of the stuff
Ive read......
Ive been riding 32 years, raced shorttrack and off-road and now have to take a
test on a scooter !?!?! :icon_lol:  Oh well...Ya do wut ya have to

my safety instructor actually said he has a harder time giving the class to people who have ridden a long time without ever taking a safety course etc. us folks that were fairly new to riding, he said were easiest to train... :dunno_white:

Hey Bird as of last July or August can't remember all people have to take a motorcycle safety course in order to get an "M" endorsement. ahh here we go!

If you wish to be licensed to ride 2 or 3 wheel motorcycles MORE THAN 50 cc.   Sections 322.03(4), 322.01(25), Florida Statutes.

What are the requirements to obtain a motorcycle endorsement?

Motorcyclists are required to:

• Be at least 16 years old (s. 322.05(1), F.S.
• Hold at least a Class E driver license, or complete the requirements for a Class E driver license; s. 322.12(5)(a), F.S. • (Exception: A driving test in an automobile is not required if applying for a "Motorcycle Only" license); s. 322.12(5)(a), F.S.
• Complete the Florida Rider Training Program Basic Rider Course (BRC) sections 322.12(5)(a), 322.0255(8), F.S.
• Go to a local Driver License office with proper identification and have the endorsement added to the Driver License.

Hope this helps!

Biggie ups to you, Mary !  :thumb:

That helps alot !
There are quite a few scooter shops close by that are authorized to
issue a certificate, so it shouldnt be a big deal unless I have to keep correcting the instructor..... :icon_twisted: tee hee hee  :D

Thank you for taking the time to post this , my Northern neighbor !!  ;)

Resurrection! Mwahahaha!

Was talking with some riding 'acquaintances', and apparently this is more common than I thought!? - Riding without a motorcycle endorsement

Heck, 2 out of 8 of them didn't have an M on their license! ...and another said he has only ever had a permit, which he somehow renews?  :dunno_black:  It came up because we were chatting about riding two up and permit guy says he can't because he only has permit, then the others were like - that don't matter we don't even have a class M... I was just like wuh??  :cookoo:

Anyone else ride 'illegally' or know others?  Is it really that common?

Very common occurrence from what I've seen. On top of that, a lot of people don't even have properly registered/titled bikes. With all the idiots, it's only reasonable that they get the bike that's $1000 cheaper with no title and just ride it without doing anything more than getting the key from the supposed previous owner. And why should they when their perfectly logical self decides they can just run from the cops instead of pulling over?

EDIT: knew a guy (friend of a friend) who bought a CBR600. I don't believe it was titled or registered, definitely no insurance, definitely no motorcycle license, no experience. I said "He's gonna kill himself pretty quick"... ~3 months later I think, rear ended a stopped tow truck doing 80 running from the cops in Dover. Amazed he's still alive.

Lol When you've got the content, quality don't matter!   :bs:  Erm, wait, that's reporters...  :icon_rolleyes:

I'm not sure how you would have insurance without having the correct endorsement on you license (or permit)... I didn't think to ask them if they did...
