Gday all,

I bought my first bike(GS500f) a little over a year ago, i bought it as a stat. write off, found a good frame-and did a frame swap. It took just over a week for me to swap it-with much help from this forum, and friends. I knew my bike literally inside and out! It was my daily ride and weekend toy(every weekend). However, i had always wanted a super-sport, the sound, the look, the power! So i went looking around for a GSXR-600(to be loyal to Suzuki-and i loved the look of them!). Whilst looking on the web for bikes which fit my category, i came across a 2008 R6-it ticked all the boxes so i went and had a look. The owner told me to take it for an hour and a half ride! And the thing was incredible! Took it to a mechanic to have a once over of it, and bought it the next day! I've just come back from a ride on it-MY GOD are my wrists sore! however it was a blast-and handles great!

Now there is no way that my girlfriend will let me have TWO bikes in the garage-so sadly, my 500 had to go! Ive sold it to my friend in Tasmania, so its getting shipped from Brisbane to Launceston next week.

This forum had helped me with loads of questions I've had and a hell of a lot of laughs! Its going to be sad to see the 500 go-the best bike to start with, comfortable, and fun to hit the mountains with!

Im going to be letting Geoff know about the forum and hopefully he'll be on here as much as i was!
Cheers,
Alex

Good to know you are still riding! Every once in a blue moon a GS rider will actually upgrade to a different bike :) Hahaha Unlike some of us.  I'm glad you are enjoying your new purchase! Good luck and take it easy for your first few rides. The twisties will be a whole new world man.
I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.

Very nice looking, bet you she screams with the yoshi on there. Always been jealous of the r6's for that.

Looks great!  I like the subtle red accents.

First thing on my list would be a rear fender elimination kit.

Personally, I'm going to stick with my GS for a while still, probably at least through this summer which would make it a year and a half.  But I wouldn't mind an upgrade to something like a Honda Hornet or a Yamaha FZ8.

My first big bike was a 98 kawasaki er-5 , after 12 months i could not wait to get rid it was an absolutle bag of wank , hated everything about it and was happy when it went.
The gs is much better than the kawasaki but its will always be just a comuter bike or learner bike . Supersports are great fun and the power is awsome im sure ull have fun

Get the gs gone and itll soon b :thumb:ecome a distant memory
