When it comes to function vs cost...you just can't beat the old fashioned lead acid....with maintenance (or not) they work just fine.

I do see advantages to a "spill proof" battery...and advantages to a "maintenance free" battery....and one that does not vent corrosive gasses into your bike, and one that does not need that stupid over the side vent tube.

This is why I went with the AGM...NOT the most cost effective...but features and convenience which I feel are worth the extra $$$

The couple of advantages a Lithium has over the AGM are not important ones to me, and certainly IMHO not worth the much greater $$$ cost......

All three types are on the market and easy to find....there must be a demand for each...nice to have choices to fit your budget and you needs/desires!

I'm gonna go against the grain on this one.  I have a 5-or-6-year-old cheapo lead acid battery on my bike that's still going strong.  Leave it on the bike in the garage in the winter; don't bother to bring it inside or put it on a tender.  It still does what it's supposed to do: start the bike.  This is just one of those situations where, unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket, spending more for "premium" is really pointless IMO.
