So yesterday I decided it was a great idea to take off the footrests from the beater project, straighten
them out and powder coat the whole thing. When I took of the two Allen bolts on the shifter side, the nut
in the frame must have gotten loose as there was only a hole afterwards.

Anyone ever had that happen?

I'll have to drill out the hole, fish the old nut out and weld a new nut in...there goes an hour 

Isn't it easier to use a longer bolt and a self-locking nut on the other side?

Sure its easier but not the right way to do it... if you got the tools, might as well put in the work..its raining so what the heck...off to the garage

Reminds me.... In about 5 weeks.. We are moving house.... To a place with a garage , and I can put up my garden shed too ... To store the crap that gets in the way ..... Ohhhh garage!! ... All I got now is a lawn locker and carport.... Garage space, oh how I have missed thee! ... Lol

thats what i thought...from 10x10 storage space to 900 SQF of total mess and parts everywhere   

900 sq feet!? ..    .... I don't get that much luxury! ... Mebbe  350 sqf? ... But couple sturdy benches, a vice, space for my little wood lathe .... 


Oh and ... Topic wise .... Getting the nut out of the fiddly internal frame bit..... Satisfaction guaranteed!!! 

When we went to buy a house in 2011 I said nothing older than 2005. We came accross this 1986 house on 1.3 acres and when I saw the detached garage I was sold...who cares how old the house is 

I run the compressor in the back room into via copper pipes to rectractable air hoses, nice to have coverage at every corner. Don't even know how I used to change timing belts, wheel bearings, exhaust, axles etc. before in the apartment parking lot 

Next garage should have two levels though its getting tight in here

if it's tall enough and sturdy enough adding a loft can be done prettyyy easily! It's what I did, now I've got a finished bottom garage with 9 feet ceilings and a top half with 8 feet ceilings.

True, i got 9 feet from bottom to the rafters. The only problem is the garage
is 30 foot wide and there is no support in the middle (9 ft. garage door is centered)
so I'm a bit hesitant to store alot on top. I might add two support beams next to
the garage door frame and use that for storage.

At the end of the day I have to much crap, I'll admit I'm a tool / motorcylce horder, don't tell my significant other I realize that
