Is the gs's carbs suction fed or gravity fed?? ,  got a fuel problem and need to no if the carbs get fuel constantly or if the carbs only get fuel via a vacuum when its running.

Cheers

Gravity fed.
The frame petcock is vacuum operated and opens only when the motor is running. PRIME position holds it open when the motor is off (so you can refill carbs if they are empty).

Thank you much appreciated  :thumb:

The vacuum operated petcock is a safety in case the needle valves are stuck so you don't lose all your fuel ;)

Ha ha lost a full tank anyway    , bloody temperary fuel line i bought had almost slipped
Off the petcock pissing fuel all over my drive , didnt have time to look at it this morning so just switched to reserve to get me to work.
Reseated it as a temp fix in my dinner hour just to get me home but goin to change it for the right  pipe tomorrow.

Does anyone no the outside and inside diameters for fuel line  from tank  to fuel switch??

Hi,

Exact replacement Fue line is a pain to find. The Motion Pro stuff is GREAT but slightly thicker than original and so is a little tricky to install.

fuel hose - (tank water drain is the same)
8mm 5/16 id.     - 11.5mm 7/16 od. Need 1.5m for whole bike
You think Pyrrhic victory is bad you should try Pyrrhic defeat!

Cheers for the info much appreciated.

Currently ive got car fuel hose think its something like 15mm od hence all the trouble with it
And the petcock :D

Think about it is you were leaking fuel, there is most likely fuel in all the crevices of the motor, so when it gets hot it can burn.

Fitted 1/4 inch (6mm) fuel pipe today ,what an arsehole of a job!!
Had to try every trick in the book to get it to fit the fuel tap ports absolute pain in the bum holio but got there in the end.
Much better fitment than the car hose i had previously .

On another note .   .  . I think my chain and sprockets need replacing    :icon_rolleyes:
