Busy weekend in the West Seattle Bike Cave.
Lots of activity, though my mentoring skills were lacking as you can see in the last picture of Zach.
Ariel got his bike back together. Looks nice! Runs great after a complete engine top end rebuild. Quite a learning experience for all of us.

Did about 80km's or less on Saturday, very short ride... New tyre time again!

Took Pokey out for the first ride since getting the rear tire replaced and changing the brake pads. Things went fairly well, although the fork seal leak I noticed is worse than expected.

Also figured out why I smell like fumes after every ride: leaky exhaust header! Have to figure out how to get that seated right.

Hey Adidasguy,  what brand are the panniers on the blue GS. They look like a very neat fit. I would be very interested in buying some if they are not too dear.

anyone want to buy a 1993 GS?

Fitted my new CrampBuster and throttle assist/cruise control. I was worried the clip on position wouldn't play well with the crampbuster, but feels good so far. Hoping the rain stops soon for a test ride

Picked her up after she fell over in a parking lot :(

The previous owner warned me about it, never though it would happen.

Well, there is good and good. Do you want the good first or the good?

Well, the good is I sold FRANK to Jmill (James). He actually is the one who got us started building Frank. So after a day of test riding DL's, DR's, BMW's and looking at Hondas, he rode Frank and bringing back memories of his GS500, bought him.
We threw on clip-ons, R&G bar ends and LSL levers.  Amazing how fast we can do these things. 15 minutes maybe. We have a good group here in West Seattle.
FRANK couldn't go to a more deserving person.

Now for the good, after a day of test riding I came home with this. 2013 wee-strooooom   DL-650

Welcome to the Dark Side!

I tried the BMW but somehow when I am on a Suzuki, it just feels right. Got $400 off from Aurora, $600 off Suzuki promo for 2013's and free lowering links (I said since the links are on and I wouldn't buy unless they were, subtract that cost and I'll buy it now). I think it was a good deal and I really love the bike.

Just ordered $1000 in accessories: side racks for my GIVI cases, crash guards, skid plate and bark busters. So much for my savings.

I already have extra Denali fog lights and heated grips that will go on her.

I love how credit cards pay me to use them. Get airline miles and cash back. Pay off right away and no interest charges. Bought bike and accessories that way.

Now to sell the EX-500. An employee that knows bikes wants it so it may go this week. Oh, wait. That is 2 sold and 1 bought. Inventory going down. Must buy a DRZ-200 and rip up some dirt.

Put two new tires on the beast.  Well the bike shop did.  I took the wheels and tires in to the shop.  I wanted them balanced as well as mounted and didn't feel I could do a good job of that.  Went cheap with Shinko's but they are sure better than what I had on the bike.  They should at least get me through the Summer and then I can decide if I want to buy some nice sticky tires.

Interesting note:  The shop mentioned that the front tire they took off was mounted backwards.  If you do mount tires yourself (or have a shop do it) make sure the arrows are pointing in the correct direction.

First think I did before I put the wheels back on the bike was use coarse sandpaper and go over the road contact surface of both tires followed by a good wipe down the alcohol.

Did about a 50 mile ride afterwards and feel like the bike is much less squirmy.  Holds the road well and feels steady in the corners.

You really need to get that DRZ-200, this is my back yard...and yes my house is in the photo  :thumb:

codajastal,

Funny how we all trade bikes around.  I sold a DL650 and bought the GS500.  I just never liked the seat height of the bike (and I had lowered it a couple of inches).  Also did not like the faring.  I bought a GS500E.  Can flat foot it easily and it really is fun in the twisties.  Flicks around sharp corners much better than the DL.

I don't think bike riders are ever perfectly happy with their ride.  ;0)   (Maybe that is why most of us own several)

Gave our bikes a boat ride.
Jmill, gorilla, jacobicu and I went to Vashon Island. Had a fantastic day. First time there this season. Roads were good but Isabella park was closed and that has a nice twistie to the shore.
Then back at the Cave NikonAndy paid a visit. Good to see him. He's doing great after his crash.

Weather was fantastic.

Left to right on the ferry:
Phenix (mine)
Frank (now owned by James)
Jacobs CBR
Unnamed bike (Gorilla's - and please give your bike a name!)
