Alright, here's an easy one.

1.25" across.

I don't want the more obvious answer, give me the application for it as well as what it is.

I guess so. And so did Banzai.  :icon_rolleyes:
Saw the "edited" and ignored the rest.
OK so you win and you are in control of this thread as I now understand.

Self proclaimed of course.  Just like you are in charge of all cat threads.

My guess for his photo is a metal clip used on an appliance.

Seriously, what's the deal with me being "in charge" of this thread.  I never put myself there, you guys just started saying so, its hardly self proclaimed.  Its starting to make me a little uncomfortable...

As for the picture, its a clip but not for an appliance.

No, not for a wrist pin.  However, its a warmer guess than for an appliance.

The clip that's just over 1 inch wide.  It is a clip, but he wants the general application.  Fair seeing it is obviously a clip.

Internal Snap Ring used to fit into a tube or over a shaft in different kinds of machinery and vehicles

You are right, but care to be more specific in the application?  It did come off of a vehicle but where?

Badot

Is the bit running left to right across the center critical? I imagine if it weren't some specialized type it wouldn't do anything and just be a waste of material...

Outside of that, my only guess would be a snap ring made to be used with standard pliers.  :dunno_black:

OMFG you are kidding right ;)
Do you know how fricken hard it was just to find that picture and description :dunno_black:
Give it to someone else :cookoo:

Well, "internal snap ring" and "used in machinery or vehicles" is kind of incredibly general...  Even john said requiring an application is fair since it's obviously a clip.
I was hoping more people would actually guess things so I could steer it along with hints

But whatever, lets move it along.

It's a snap ring for an automotive universal joint, more specifically for a drive-shaft.

Take it away, Coda.
