No, not for a wrist pin.  However, its a warmer guess than for an appliance.

You are right, but care to be more specific in the application?  It did come off of a vehicle but where?

Is the bit running left to right across the center critical? I imagine if it weren't some specialized type it wouldn't do anything and just be a waste of material...

Outside of that, my only guess would be a snap ring made to be used with standard pliers.

Well, "internal snap ring" and "used in machinery or vehicles" is kind of incredibly general...  Even john said requiring an application is fair since it's obviously a clip.
I was hoping more people would actually guess things so I could steer it along with hints 


But whatever, lets move it along.

It's a snap ring for an automotive universal joint, more specifically for a drive-shaft.
