The bike runs terrible when its below 50 and takes 4-5 minutes of warming up before i can run it without the choke. Once it warms up,at idle(1200 rpm) it will pop through the rightside exhaust from the sound. If the throttle is held at 1500 rpm's the motor will pop a little in the same way and then drop 3-500 rpm's and immediately come back up. Throttle response when riding seems fine, plenty of power,no surging or popping.

When i got the bike the owner used my most hated term saying it had a "stage two jet kit" but couldnt tell me why it was rejetted or what jets might have been installed. I havent removed the carbs to check the jets yet.

To me it seems like it might be lean and need a good sync...does that seem far off from the symptoms? The plugs in the picture are how they came out after a ride, left cylinder on the left and right is on the right.

How old are those plugs? it might be worth trying new plugs first

I was thinking of going that route just so i know whats in it for myself.PO claimed 2 light seasons of riding on the plugs. The electrodes show very little to no wear as well.

the spark plug on the bottom looks like it has a fouled electrode. you may want to replace them both. the best way to see if the bike is rejetted is to look the the sizes of the jets. pilot jet is 17 (i think) mid main is 60 and main is 130 on the F models. Not sure if the E models have different jetting other than that the E models only have a pilot and main jet. also, if the carb is rejetted, then it needs a K&N air filter to compensate for the increase fuel consumption. not sure if thats the reason for popping though. on my bike it pops as well when its cold out so it may be normal.
2006 GS500f w/K&N drop in air filter, Carb rejetted 20/62.5/137.5, Fairing removed, stock headlight on forks. Clubman Handlebars.
