new mirrors and painted the pipe. For those who didn't see, the pipes were rusted and scratched pretty bad

After waiting an excruciatingly long month, bought it, loaded it up on the truck, and drove it home. It'll be tagged on Wednesday, I'll get some pictures up eventually.

It was scratched and rusted. Didn't feel like replacing

Got my saddlebags in and test fitted. They look even better and are sturdier than I imagined. Was worried they'd end up sticking out like a sore thumb and flop all about, but they actually fit nicely in the lines of the bike and barely wiggle at interstate speed.

After an oil change, new mirrors, chain maintenance, and a wash she'll be ready to ride down to Myrtle Beach for bike week. A friend was riding solo and ask me to tag along. Been years since I've been to the beach, and it'll be my first bike week experience. Should be a fun time.

i got it off ebay for about 20$ free shipping and it only took about 4 days to get to my house. great quality. it came with a gas cap cover but that was too difficult to get lined up right without looking ghetto and off center.

Nice Steez!  I've been looking at saddlebags, really dig that look and shape - look decent for size too, like they can hold quite a bit.  Are those silverstones, or what?

Also, very jealous of your trip!

I like those bags. Where did you get than from/how much? And are they easy to remove and install if I'm not riding a long trip?

Yup, they are First Gear Silverstone. ~$150 and here's the link for more info. They are 30L and expand out to just over 40L, looks like they will hold plenty. We'll see after I packed for the trek

They are quick to put on and take off. 2 big velcro straps go under the seat and straddle(front to back) the seat latch. 2 bungee's go under and keep the bottom of the bags tight. Once you get the main straps to the right length - Just pop off the seat, lay over the bags, put seat back on and slap 2 bungees to the bottoms. The bungee's were a bit of a thinker to get them on, tight, and away from the rear wheel. I think they would work better with shorter cords than what they supplied. I'll get some better photos once I have her loaded and ready for the road.

Well, Flick got new rear brakes and rotor. Adidasguy's V&H specially made centerstand stop was installed. I cried the whole time installing it. It was a baby powder blue I was going to paint it to match but now I can't bring myself to do it. I still need to do the same to the heel guards.

Hey, I have been looking for some nice saddlebags for my 04gs500F. These look really nice. Do you find that they can hold a good amount of clothes If I wanted to take a nice road trip? Also, do they get in the way if you are riding with someone on the back?

Here's an 80L duffle bag for comparison. Might be a bit less since you split it 50/50, but they should hold quite a bit. I'll know more after this coming weekend's first trek with them. They wouldn't work well with a pillion rider. My gimbel rear passenger pegs are moved to compensate for the rearset, but you can see in the photo the way i have them mounted they completely cover the pegs.
