So, while I was waiting for my valve shims to arrive I ended up tearing into the carbs to clean my jets.  On my '09 the carbs have several attachments which are not present on the older models, and I may or may not have taken enough pictures to be 100% sure that I have everything hooked up right.

Does anyone know of a good  visual resource into the late-model carbs and where everything hooks up?  The ultra low-contrast thumbnail pictures in my Haynes manual are less than helpful, and almost everything I have found online has been older and is missing some of the connections I have.

Unfortunately no help to you now, but I plan on cleaning my carbs in a week or so (had surgery on my hand so I am losing a month of riding, and in Canada, that is a whole lot of riding I can get done in the year!)

I will be picture documenting what I can for the whole process, as I am in the same boat as you.  Lots of documentation on the older carbs, but not too much on the new models.

Take a picture of your carbs on the bike with loose hose that can be seen and I'll help you out I didn't find much help either but I figured it out

Just post pictures of what your confused about, we can help. I have an 04 so they should be pretty close

Thanks, everyone.  I just got my valve cover back on so today I'm going to start hooking everything back up.  In the likely case that I have mystery hoses once I reinstall the PAIR stuff I'll post some pictures of them.

Luckily one of the videos on valve clearance checks is on an '04+ and I could see where a few of my hoses should go.

I managed to get everything hooked up alright.  Big points of confusion were the carburetor drain tube that gets routed over the airbox (completely forgot about removing it from there) and the vacuum lines for the PAIR system and secondary petcock (couldn't figure which was which).

I did some Googling and found a great PDF of the Suzuki Supplementary service manual for GS500F models.  It has hose routing diagrams, wiring diagrams, and several other great illustrations for differences on these models.  Here's the link:

For some reason you have to click links and download on PC, but on my phone it went straight to the PDF.
