Long story short, even though I had a car cover on my car over the 4th, something fell from the sky and put a nice dime-sized dent in the hood of my car. It's not very deep, maybe 1 or 2mm in the center.

How would I go about removing it?

Is there a chance that the paint may later chip out of the dent once removed? Or likewise, if left as-is?

I have zero experience with those mobile folks who claim to remove small dents/dings and such. Would it be worth checking on them?

I just dunno what to do...kinda aggravating, and I'd like for it to not be there if possible.

Try using a plunger where the dent is fresh small dents can usually be popped back if its fresh

Hood ? Can you get under it with a crowbar, or other bent metal rod.
The lining under the hood is rippable and replaceable ... in fact my brother in law replaces them every 2-3 years and swears that it keeps the hood from losing paint as fast.

I'm with Buddha but wouldnt suggest a crowbar.

Open hood, remove heat shield, locate dent, have someone hold the hood so it doesn't fall, and hit it from underneath with a ball peen hammer.  Start gentle and work your way up until the ding disappears.

Suction works for larger dents, little dings are best got from behind with a hammer.


Most paint has some degree of flexibility, if it didn't chip from the dent being beat in it won't chip from the dent being beat out.

I did body work professionally for close to a decade. See if you can get a "dent doctor" to do it reasonably.

If you can access it from behind the try pushing it out with your thumb.

Hammers are for shaping mteal, a single strike will stretch the metal and any chance of a repair that does not involve refinishing is gone.

I've rebuilt close to 200 totals and painted several hundred all over jobs.

If one small dent is that big a deal rendering it unrepairable without refinishing is not better than where you are now, and paint cost a fortune these days.
