Instead of the LSL MT03, what about the Suzuki Gladius headlight? A quick ebay search shows that they are a bit cheaper than the MT03's and styled near identical. I think my next bike will be a brand new Gladius lol. Looks like an awesome little bike!

your right those look good.

I like this too

I need patricks electrical expertise though. Damn what a guy!

Thank you that is a great idea :-).
I'll give it a shot.

Haha I'm quite handy with electrical, just give me a jingle and I'll help you out. Patrick may be gone, but a lot of people soaked up some of his great advice while it was available.
I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.

He guys, in the past weeks a lot happend. First I dropped my GS at the dealer for a dyno run and synchronization of the dynojetted carbs.

The result of the dyno run after synchronization was 45hp at the rear wheel witch is nice, but there was a problem, the afr started rich at 11/1 but between 3000 and 7000 rpm it peeked to 20/1 above 7000 it went back to 11/1 and that really is not good. So after trying different needle heights, air filters and slides, without result the dealer gave me back my bike because they didn't want to order parts with the risk not to be using them  >:( So I mounted back the stock carbs and now i am searching for a good tuner.

Yesterday I modivied a set of Kawa 636 steps for my GS with this result:

The exhaust i bought earlyer has already been sold again. The priority is now to fix the bike with the dynojet carbs before Holiday (riding at the Eiffel in Germany)

Finally I found a great tuner (No limit in Roden the Netherlands) so last Friday i brought it there on the trailer.
With a bit of luck, it will be finished next wednesday of course it will come with dyno results..... can't wait  :icon_mrgreen:

Just picked up the bike.

The result is:
45whp (original 36)
41.4Nm torque.

Big Rich

Whoa! I saw the first page of this thread and somehow missed every update since then.......

Fantastic work, man!
83 GR650 (riding / rolling project)

It's opener there in the wide open air...

This is a fantastic build, real inspiration as many have said.
Do you your bike frequently? I am hopefully going to be visiting the Netherlands and it would be cool to possibly meet up for a ride and a cup of tea.

45bhp isn't bad, that's only 7hp lost through transmission! Got me thinking now, there is a shop local to me that does free dyno runs on Sunday, because the guy who runs the place does it for enjoyment.

Thanks!!
Yes i actualy ride my bike pretty often :thumb: just give me a message when youre in Holland.
How did you come up with the 7hp los througt transmission?
Original a gs500 has 34kw (45hp) at the crankshaft which is +/- 36hp at the rear wheel (9hp loss).
Now i have 45whp (at the rear wheel) so a win of 9hp = 25% more hp. And that is a lot.  :woohoo:

Torque added to earlier post.
(41.4Nm)

MARider

It crazy how linear the power is. I just have to say your bike is honestly one of the best looking and well put together GS's out there. Must be nice to be able to source parts like your front end.

captain-longstride

I thought it was 52@crank! Oh well. I tell you what... For 45bhp it's serious fun. I stepped down from a 1988 Ninja 600 and actually prefer the GS.
Post a fly by video :)

wakey86

beautifull work, i take my hat off, clean lines and no short cuts that what i like

bombsquad83

What are your performance mods, and what was your final carb set up (jetting, needles, etc)
